Ross Brown
If you are booked to play New Year's Eve, do you expect more pay than your normal rate? jeremy c
It's usually at least double a regular gig. My first NYE gig in 1966 (I was a senior in high school) paid three times what my normal gig pay was! (I got $30 for that gig. Thankfully my rate of pay has increased since then.) Free download of my cd!.
Ross Brown
Ok. That helps... double is reasonable, more is reasonable too. I would be happy with double. DavidMPires
I usually go with tripple. But hey I never played a NYE gig www.myspace.com/davidbassportugal "And then the magical unicorn will come prancing down the rainbow and we'll all join hands for a rousing chorus of Kumbaya." - by davio
Max Valentino
NYE is THE big night for musicians...paywise anyway. Wherever you play, the venue is charging top dollar for cover, drinks, parking etc. You should as well. Triple or even four x your "going rate". I look forward to NYE...or at least my checking acc't does. I make good $ each night I play (and I realize it is probably as lot more than many do...) but NYE the pay is always sickenly good. Bottomgottem
My best paying gig thus far was New Years Eve 1999. We got four times our normal rate. That opportunity was taken advantage of very nicely, thank you. Normally, we take no less than twice our normal rate for New Years Eve. My whole trick is to keep the tune well out in front. If I play Tchaikovsky, I play his melodies and skip his spiritual struggle. ~Liberace
b5pilot
Yep! The wife's birthday is New Year's day and I got to treat her right so I can play the next New Years Eve. That's gonna take some cash. Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it. http://www.myspace.com/theeldoradosband
moot
4 times the norm - even here in the boonies! "He is to music what Stevie Wonder is to photography." getz76 I have nothing nice to say so . . .
SteveC
We're getting about 3X's normal this year. Not bad for around here where most poeple think you should play for free.
...
As others have said: way more. 3x+ is the norm for me.
