Phil W Posted August 9, 2009 Author Share Posted August 9, 2009 Interesting that during an Academy visit here in LA they are focussing on the diagonal fingerings - so for Dorian that would be: 1 1 2 4 - 1 1 2 4 - 1 2 4 - 1 1 2 4 for two octaves where - represents going up a string. I rarely practise these scales or modes straight up or down anymore but, if you do, use a variety of fingerings and try this one out which opens up a lot of the neck - and play it ascending and descending. And thanks Andy for encouraging me to dig these old mode threads out.
