Hi guys! Relatively new here...and thought I'd share the beginnings of a current Guitar.com collaboration. I call it "Jaminjee"...and it's a blues shuffle. Mind you, I'm not the biggest blues fan....but this is definitely turning out to be one of my most-listened to tunes!! Hope you like it! The players are as follows (by their Guitar.com screennames): MediaArts1 (intro and 2nd lead) Tkalayci (Vai-esque solo) Sergv (perfect slide guitar) Skotsmack (guitarist/singer of band .end of story) We have a few slots open in this song. Come on over and join in the fun...or e-mail me at MediaArts1@aol.com with any comments. Thanks! (playing i mean...one can only do so much with the sounds themselves). you might consider trying to get out there as a mix engineer/producer...not everyone has that natural talent for making stuff sound full and tight, particularly with less than stellar equipment. i bet you could do killer audiophile level stuff w a great room + gear...

The drums sound better than most ACID projects and the rest of the track mostly made up for what lacked there. Nice songs, good hooks, thanks for sharing.

Here's a tune (live performance of Happy The Man) I recorded and mixed using a PM3500's direct outs to a MX-2424. It was mixed using Nuendo and a DA7. MP3 was encoded in WaveLab 3. I'm want to get some feedback from the gang. Thanks. www.da7.com/filearchive/TinderArts/mp3/servicenf2000.mp3

I thought the overall mix was just a tad lacking in LOW end. Like the good low low stuff ya know. Just a bit though. Nice otherwise. :)

With the low bit rate they should have started almost instantly. I'm trying to download & no go. Over 5 minutes, I just stopped waiting... Fix it & you'll probably get some feedback.

I've been playing around with it a bit & it seems to really add some tube warmth without changing anything else. You link above doesn't work. It has a comma after com that is in the hyperlink & throws it to a bad page. :thu:

I can usually stream anything out there & just tried again. I get the normal flash & show the stream is coming down & the page shows "done" & nothing happens. I use Winamp for my mp3 player. It's been bulletproof for quite a few years. It shows the songs as buffering. I just played Lee's new tune, it's an mp3, not m3u & it played fine & I've played a couple of other m3u's & they were fine. So...????

My Mac thinks they're in Quick Time format, but it won't play them. Maybe try putting up a non-streaming MP3. By the way, is Christopher Canyon any relation to Christy? :D

What keys were used for this performance? P.S. Thanks again for your help with Emagic; it was greatly appreciated.

Performances are spot on perfect. Did you double track the guitar, or did you manage to play all of that all at once? Lyle's voice is excellent, and I liked the way that the background vocals blended in. A very 60's approach (good in my book!!!). I have no comment on the ultra-clean (but warm) recording except that if you could somehow get a little extra "grit" on the lead vocal, it would cut through more. Maybe a little more compression to push it to the edge of rudeness - I LOVE rudeness. :D You guys really have something special. I'll bet that you please the crowd wherever you play.

I loved the guitars and the lead vocal. The drums sound a little too mechanical for my taste, but given the 80's flavor of the tune, that might have been exactly what you were looking for. The recording (or perhaps the MP3 conversion) has an edgy high end that you might want to tone down. Other than that, it's a clean and well-balanced mix.
Did you double track the guitar, or did you manage to play all of that all at once?
Nah I did 2 guitar tracks!
Lyle's voice is excellent, and I liked the way that the background vocals blended in. A very 60's approach (good in my book!!!).
Yeah, I think that 60's approach is pretty much permanently embedded in all of us cuz we're not even trying to be that way, it's just what comes out! :D And yes I quite love Lyle and Spyder's voices.
I have no comment on the ultra-clean (but warm) recording except that if you could somehow get a little extra "grit" on the lead vocal, it would cut through more. Maybe a little more compression to push it to the edge of rudeness - I LOVE rudeness. :D
Yeah I agree - and actually, I had already done a remix yesterday which I just now uploaded, where I EQ'd a little "air" into the vocal. I tried the compander which is extra rude :D , but I think it was a bit much - I do want to retain the warmth in Lyle's voice. So I bumped the compression just a tad and added a little EQ in the "dirt" range (around 6K) and I think it's a bit better. Good ears Dan! :)
You guys really have something special. I'll bet that you please the crowd wherever you play.
Well thanks! Just got back from a gig actually, and yeah it went quite well. We really do enjoy playing together a ton and have a very positive vibe, and people seem to pick up on that which is nice. Thanks for listening Dan! --Lee

"For Love or Money" - cool tune, great loose feel, I don't think it sounds too much like the Stones, just the right amount of influence... Cool slide detail... The Keith Moon drumming on "Have You Ever Loved Somebody" is very cool. Great guitar work on "Grand Finale".... Really nail the vibe of "a young Jeff Beck" lead wise and the early Townsend (live) pushing the beat strumming rhythm feel - and your choice of notes shows how much depth you have relative to the genre. You really should feature your guitar playing much more in your originals IMO!

Geez Chip, thanks! Coming from you that means a lot. And I certainly do not complain about being compared to early Beck and Townshend! Some of our originals do feature guitar work more than others. There are a couple of recordings we're working on now with quite a bit of guitar. It just depends on the song really. Anyhow thanks again for the kind words and for listening! --Lee
