I'm signing up folks to organize our own little self help group, called GUITARAHOLICS ANONYMOUS.

They'll be plenty of coffee, and tons of G.A.S. stories. Maybe we'll come up with the "Six Strings of Recovery"....... :D

Who wants to join up?:wave:

Come on, don't be shy! :thu::thu:

(Stands up in front of the group) My name is bbach. I am a guitaraholic. (gets applause from the group for his courage).

What are the signs that you are a guitaraholic?

When you spend your bill paying money on a new guitar.

When you show a beautiful new Gretsch White Falcon to your wife and you say, "oh, it's just a couple hundred dollar guitar hunny"

When you sneak into your little room by yourself to practise while your wife is having the family over for dinner.

When you lie to yourself and say "this will be the last one I buy".

Do I qualify for your club.:D

HT...you are officially a charter member!

WELCOME

Some indicators that you MAY BE A GUITARAHOLIC;

-you ask the Guitar Center guy to get you that guitar out of the glass booth, telling yourself that you are JUST GOING TO PLAY IT.....(yea, sure!)

-you find yourself in your guitar closet playing at midnight after everyone else has gone to bed.

-you continue to noodle on your guitar at a family/friends gathering even after everyone has become bored with your playing, and left you COMPLETELY ALONE.

-you continue to noodle on your guitar at a family/friends gathering even after everyone has become bored with your playing, and left you COMPLETELY ALONE.........AND YOU COULDN'T CARE LESS!!

-you promise that you will not add a new axe to the collection until after you get your end of year bonus, but you buy one anyway...MAYBE YOU BUY TWO ANYWAY!!

-a new guitar becomes a NECESSITY, NOT SIMPLY A DESIRE.

-two old L.P. Jr's WEREN'T ENOUGH!

-you sneek your new six string into the house when your wife and kids aren't around, and slip it into the guitar closet, and tell NO ONE...well, except for your guitar friends and band mates....

-you leave your new axe in the trunk of your car in the garage, and only bring it into the house after your wife goes to sleep.

-you leave your new axe in the trunk of your car in the garage, and only bring it into the house after your wife goes to sleep, AND THEN STAY UP HALF THE NIGHT PLAYING IT ACOUSTICALLY IN THE BASEMENT.

-the list of your guitars that you keep for insurance purposes isn't up to date.....

-you haven't played it in quite a while, but YOU STILL LOVE IT.

-you convince your wife that this guitar REALLY IS A GOOD INVESTMENT.

-you never play it anymore, but you refuse to sell it because YOU KNOW IT'S WORTH MORE THAN YOU CAN GET FOR IT.

I'm in DA HOUSE brothers and sisters! Yes yes all very familiar traits I'm afraid! common frailties shared by this band of gypsies, loving our afflictions and needing more gear to feed our needs LOL! Here is another sad but true confession, [ Once many years ago, at the end of a very large argument with the XYL (X-young-lady) a certain Motown based guitarpist that you all know, afraid of the XYL's wrath... bundled ALL guitars up and took said guitars to oldest sons house, thinking the XYL's wrath would be taken out on his guitars]

Any significant life partner who pulls out the `it`s the guitar or me` act better be prepared to NOT get the answer she`s expecting...come to thimk of it maybe that`s why I`m not married.

Well as some of you know, this year I flew from here to Sydney, basically to buy a guitar. Not only had I not played it but it wasn`t even new.

Okay, maybe I`ve got a little issue going. But I hate labels. Guitaraholic-why does it have to be a label? I hate labels... ;)

;)

Same old surprises, brand new cliches-

Hi,

My name is Geoff & I'm a guitaraholic.

I have nine guitars & I'm not even in a band!!

I play at least 2 hours a day.

The only thing I look at in Ebay is the Guitar section.

Not to be a trouble maker, but you know having an odd number of guitars is certain bad luck......

I was switching guitars back and forth for several hours today while practicing because I need to do some parts/sound comparison for a future guitar project. All of a sudden, I see a red spot on a string. Thinking it's a piece of lint (the interior of the case is red), I try to pick it up only to notice it's blood  . My first reaction is to quickly jump and check the other guitar to make sure blood will not stain the satin-finished maple fretboard! I carefully wipe both guitars (the strings were all bloody) before taking a look at my fingers (I'm still not sure if it's a cut or a splinter).

Anyway, I don't really have time to go to any Guitar-a-holics meeting, I really need to go play. So unless you tell me those meetings can help my guitars, I am afraid I can not join.
