  1. Well I am now the proud owner of a Voicelive Touch. Looking forward to trying it out but it has been a busy week! Also would up with a Roland GR30 kind of unexpectedly. Kicking out all the old tech!
  2. Fantastic! I love the thrift finds and didn’t know MXL’s were even modifiable. I’ve made a few thrift store purchases myself. One example is a Boss CE-2 black label silver screw for $15.00. I also love repurposing things and fixing things. And - Good dynamic mics can be incredible. I have actually started using my Sennheiser MD441 for vocals almost exclusively - male vocals anyway. I empathize with the need to streamline and get the workflow happening. What Mac Mini are you using? And I assume you are using Logic?
  3. Great to know. I would love to get Hornsby’s ‘Old Valley Road’ sound, and a George Duke EP. Also to be able to play like those guys! oh I see you have the Voce 5+ and Vent. Nice! I am not so sophisticated = I have the non-plus version and an RT20 but still pretty happy.
  4. I have all sorts of sequencing options using IPad (eg Auria Pro), IPhone, or DAW, but I want the immediacy and self containment of a built-in, but would make an audio backup to be safe. I realize it won’t be as powerful and flexible but for what I want to do it will work.
  5. I adore my Cloudburst. It is everything I had hoped for and is relatively easy to set up to create MIDI selected presets and I control it with an ES8 switcher live. My other pedals at least have some indication of the presets but obviously the CB does not. I would love to have a little LED that could just indicate for me the program number based on the selected MIDI a channel. Heck I could even get by with a single LED for 0-9 as I can usually use just the 8 program display limit hat I have with the Collider and Terraform. are there any standalone options? I would also consider DIY. I know that power could be an issue but I wouldn’t mind if it was CR2032 to AAA. a simple display that would stick on the top would be awesome. A processing box under the pedalboard could work too if a Rasp Pi etc. is small enough. I am good at coming up with these crazy ideas.
  6. Greetings! I picked up an SP6 with intent of using in performance context with band and it was great for that, but now looking at studio and solo performing. It pairs now nicely with my 3rd Wave as 2nd tier, with MODX6 now on the side for studio. I like in-the-box sequencers which obviously the SP6 does not have. For solo performance the one Keyboard would be all I would need. Forte SE has same sounds but better control and sequencer. I might go full Forte as well for expanded sounds - if accoustic pianos and EPs are better represented. . Aftertouch would be handy as well. How flexible and easy to use is the sequencer and can I send MIDI CC events to change settings on my guitar pedals for instance? The only other board I have considered is the Fantom FA08 but don’t think I would like the pianos as much. Also, trying to make a small ‘upgrade’ investment, can’t go full out on a Montage M for instance and the sequencer is still inadequate anyway.

  8. Hey everyone. Thanks for all the excellent feedback. I want to emphasize that I truly want to have full control over vocal harmonies via MIDI note. The chord sensing will only get me so far. On a technical note, I may still want to toggle between doubling and MIDI note though as doubling will work so much better than trying to match unison timing. But, there are workarounds for that. I could just use my H9 for that with simple on/off commands.
  9. Can you educate me on this? I want to insert a CC event in a sequence at a precise point to change parameters on my HX Stomp currently (choose snapshot). I simply don’t know how to do this. I would love to know!
  10. Bill H, that is precisely what I want to do. My MODX6 will at least send note data, but won’t send CC or PC and I also want to change HX Stomp settings automatically too. That is why I am thinking of dumping the Kurzweil SP6 for a Roland FA08 or something like it. I like working with hardware. There is a desktop Digitech unit locally that should do all I want that is a little newer tech - I might try it.
  11. I had seen the Perform-VK and just read through the manual and it looks like quite the value and pretty full featured and I suppose as long as the fixed elements work it might be an inexpensive device to try. It is cool that you can inform the chording and scale with MIDI, but it does not appear to have note mode. So this begs the question. So much of he music I want to do has the high sustained pedal-tone (usually the held fundamental in a higher octave as the melody changes underneath). How could this be handled? I suppose a Kludgy way to kill the main would be to send an inverted phase from the main to the return of the device (probably with some latency compensation). I really don’t want to spend a zillion dollars on the Extreme since this whole project is proof of concept. Thanks for all the feedback!.
  12. To attract me to the Montage would be - significantly more useful sequencer with editing and CC send capability, and much better and more flexible MIDI receive configuration. An Analog filter option like the Fantom’s would be attractive too. I have a MODX6 currently as my 2nd tier and really do enjoy the sounds and find the workflow better than the Motif but with aforementioned limitations.
  13. Wow! A Jupiter 8 in a worship rig! I am intrigued by the Roland. I am looking to replace my Kurzweil SP6 gigging 88 with the FA-08 specifically as I want a good sequencer workstation platform. The new Fantom is pattern based but I want to work linear without a 64 measure limitation. Have heard good things about the FA series sequencers and it sounds like it is working well for you. Have you used the sequencer much?
  14. I am thinking of going solo but realizing that harmonizing is kind of a necessity to add interest to the covers I plan to do. intelligent pitch shifting won’t work as many songs are orchestrated harmonies, and I want to be hands-free. Plus I want to kill-dry to process the harmonies and doubles separately. Looking at a Digitech DVP3 which has the feature set, but... is anyone using MIDI note controlled harmonies and is it working well? thanks!
  15. I checked out the FA-08 a little more and it absolutely looks like a great replacement for my SP6. If it had aftertouch and velocity sensitive pads it would be icing on the proverbial cake, but the pricing looks really good and it seems to get mostly favorable reviews. I hadn’t considered the ‘Fantom’ line much as I always thought the UI was difficult but this one looks like a departure.
