  1. When I got my B-3 at age 16, the first guy to ever play it was Doug Riley, the Dean of music in Toronto. In 2011, the last guy to play my B-3 was Joey Defrancesco. After that, my Hammond has been retired to my basement studio.
  2. I just bought an IPad G9 which has a Lightning port. I have a Korg Plugkey and/or an I-Rig Pro Duo to interface to the IPad. The negative of the I-rig Pro Duo is it does not charge the IPad, so I had to buy some Camera kit adapter to get power to the IPad. I hate extra dongles and adapter cables but it works. The Plugkey does everything in one.
  3. I’ve discovered on the left side of the Wave2 an “Octave Shift”. This seems to accommodate moving up and down the keyboard a couple octaves, and doesn’t affect sound quality. I think this is what I was looking for, and I can adjust my patches accordingly. Thanks for the help guys! Steve
  4. The Wave2 is brand new from Nord. I haven’t done anything with updating samples.
  5. I was thinking the same thing. But I’ve read the Wave2 doesn’t have an abundance of memory, I’d probably have to remove some other samples to make room.
  6. Here’s another one for you. I’m trying out a Wave 2 synth before I purchase. There’s many things about the architecture of this thing which I like. It’s like 4 synths in 1, with an assortment of available sounds to build your patches. Waveforms, FM, Wavetable, samples, etc. Today I stumbled upon a Yamaha Stereo C7 Grand Piano sample which I use all the time in my Nord Stage 2. I use it typically with zero EQ as it just bright enough to cut through any band situation, and responds to velocity very nicely. So I activate the sample on my Wave 2, after I did a quick A-B test, and they sounded identical to my Stage2 sample. Then, as I often do, I transposed the sample down -12 which is one octave. When I did that the quality of the sample just disappeared and ended up with terrible fidelity from the same sample with no transposing. Is this because the original Nord piano sample is not multi-sampled across the keyboard? I’ve never experienced anything like this in any Nord or other keyboard before. Even from other manufacturers. Strange. I don’t want to try to EQ the sample back to normal. I like it in its original pitch as is. Thanks for reading this far.
  7. This is a new one on me. Thank you Jinkings and DJKeys. I've implemented this on my Stage2, and put all my Midi Solutions boxes away for the time being. This Keyboard Corner Forum continues to amaze. Thanks to all! Steve Beach
  8. Everything is working to my satisfaction. I don't know how to make the External section ON with no zones selected. As soon as no zones are on, the volume morphing no longer works. I'm just filtering out NOTE ON/OFF information with my Midi Solutions ROUTER BOX. All is good!!! Thank you everyone for your input. You've been a great help. (-:
  9. I have found this is NOT TRUE. When I turn off the KB zones on the Stage 2 external zones, the morph volume control no longer works for the Wave 2 on Midi Ch. 4. So I'll have to use my eternal midi box to filter out note ON/OFF information. Not a biggy.
  10. Ok Mike. I have some success! Using the External Section (I have set the Midi Ch to 4 for the Ext. Sect. and the Wave 2) and using the Morph Control Pedal feature, I am able to control the Wave 2 Volume from 0-127. Sustain too. Yes! Thank you. My only issue at the moment is to filter out NOTE ON-OFF information using a Midi Solutions black box, as at the moment when I play the Stage2 keyboard.... it triggers sounds on the Wave 2. I'm sure this can be accomplished with my Midi Solutions ROUTER box. Thank you so much Mike & John for your suggestions. I won't be able to get back to this scenario for a couple days due to gigs and Xmas gatherings, but I'm well on the way I think. Thanks again!!! Steve
  11. This is a brain teaser for sure Mike. I’m going to try your idea using the external section and see where that gets me. Stay tuned.
  12. Pedal is connected to the Stage2 Control pedal input. On the Wave’s system menu, it’s set at Yamaha FC7, volume.
  13. I use a NORD Stage 2 as the centre piece of my rig. I'm trying to add a NORD Wave 2 as a top layer keyboard, but use my Yamaha FC-7 volume pedal to control the Wave 2 volume as well using MIDI from the Stage 2. I've done this with an Electro 3 no problem, but the Wave 2 doesn't want to respond to CC#11. I can see the little MIDI light flashing on the Wave 2 like it's receiving information, but it's not actually doing anything I can hear. Sustain pedal #CC 64 works fine. I suppose CC#7 for volume might be an option, or CC#3 Program Level on the Wave 2. Has anyone ventured down a MIDI path like this? I have MIDI Solutions Event Processor Plus to program for this scenario if necessary. Appreciate any input. Thank you.
  14. When I think about what I used to pay for the latest hardware synths with road case back in the 70's (easily $2,000 a pop).... I'm looking at an ad by Arturia V Collection 9 for $299, a 50% savings for 33 software instruments. Everything you can imagine across the board by various manufacturers. I'm running a conventional Apple I-Mac (2019) maxed out at 16GB of memory with a 1TB hard drive. My DAW software is Logic Pro. I'm running several keyboard software apps on an I-pad Mini2 and record them all as audio tracks on Logic Pro. I'm trying to understand how the Arturia apps sitting on my I-Mac will interface with Login Pro. I don't believe the Arturia stuff is available for IOS. Do you open the apps individually and then output them to a track on Logic, or do you create a new track and access the software app as if it were a plug-in on the strip? If I get some clarification on this, I think I'm going to make the Arturia purchase while the Black Friday offer is on. Do you think my I-Mac would have enough horsepower to run all this stuff. Currently, using my I-Pad for keyboard software, everything is OK. Thanks in advance, Steve
  15. Happy birthday Dave! Thnx for everything you do👍
  16. Think I got it. Re-watched video. You have to double-click on the Song Title and allows you to choose a different soundset, then save. It worked. I'm documenting this. Thank you ElmerJ.
  17. Rock Drummer or Soft Drummer Users: Tried to rough out a song arrangement today in "Soft Drummer". There is a BANK or genre category, a RHYTHM or style category, and a SOUND or drumkit category. Once I've selected what I want from each of these categories, I go to SONG MODE to put together the song intro, verse, chorus, number of bars for each, etc. The app immediately resets the SOUND or drumkit to the default sound in the column (the first sound). None of the other drumkits seem to be available in SONG mode. There's no option to re-select. This of course makes no sense. I've gone to the Lumbeat website but support seems non-existent. Other than a few YouTube videos, tutorials are minimal. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? It does the same thing in Rock Drummer. TIA, Steve
  18. Rock Drum Machine is the one I’m looking at the moment. It appears to have many of the things I’m looking for, price is reasonable, runs on an IPad. The interface is a little different than I’m used to, so I’ll see what I can figure out in the next few weeks. I’m planning to use it for studio use only, and the have other styles available as well such as Soft rock, funk and jazz. Thanks for the input everyone.
  19. Any suggestions for a good drum program with lots of patterns and kits and styles available, fills, intros, endings. The works I guess. TIA
  20. The GForce Oddity caught my attention on my YouTube feed last night. I’m an original ARP Oddysey owner from ‘73, and currently have the Korg software version which is very nice and polyphonic. This GForce Oddity unit seem to take things to a whole nother level. Will definitely check it out.
  21. Now that I have it working, the sound of Ravenscroft is pristine, with lots of variables with EQ, reverbs, decay, etc. the presets are all great and useable, and you can adjust and save your own it seems. I don’t know how it sounds in mono, but it’s a very responsive with my controller. I’d recommend it.
  22. UPDATE: I think I've found success. I've re-looked at D. Gauss's suggestion at trying another MIDI CHANNEL other than 4. Let's look closer.... 1) I've reset my interface on MIDI Inputs & Outputs to be KORG Plugkey for both. Nothing else selected. 2) On the MIDI channel screen, you'll notice I have no channels selected for MIDI. I've discovered Ravenscroft seems to be in OMNI mode all the time, unless you select one of the channels for "RECEIVE EVENTS FROM CHANNELS". Previously, I had selected Ch. 4 thinking that's how you set the Global Midi Channel for the app. So I discovered I could get audio from the external keyboard if I send from the controller any channel but 4. Then I discovered you could unselect Ch 4 and they all appear as though they're unused. Hence, OMNI mode is always ON ready to receive from whatever global channel you're sending from your external keyboard controller. I must say, I'm no MIDI expert, but I've never seen MIDI channels assigned like this. Usually there's at least an OMNI selection. So, I want to thank everyone for their patience and suggestions. Now I can get back to making music. Best to all, Steve B.
  23. I was thinking about doing a fresh download as a last resort. I tried reaching out to Ravenscroft support, but it’s a challenge even opening a ticket on their website. Also going to power down the complete system today and start fresh.
