  1. right. the '730 Fatar spec' feels very much like the Hammond SK. The Nord 'spec' feels a bit different (some like it, some like because it's red, and some don't like it despite being red)
  2. VR700 CTRLR EDITOR 1.01.5 - major hotfix release finally, the 'sporadic' muting of sounds when VR sounds are selected on editor (dropdowns) could be indentified and fixed. Download and install is highly recommended For download simply use the links given in previous posts
  3. "cheeeea - you are on non of the photos" "why should I ?" "????' "don't like" "not a single photo of you" "yeah - but look at the {monument|impressive cathedral|magnifigue landscape|lucky shot|ambient light|....}" "errr ja, nice ... [not looking at anything] - no photos of you and your friends?" "guess there is one , here" [photo of friends grinning into the camera like a horde of apes] "oohh how beeaaaaautiful [starring at the photo] - but where is you on the photo???" [starting to get pissed] "SOMEONE HAD TO HOLD THE CAMERA!!!!" "BUT no photo of you!" "Wait ... here - your photo of mine" "BUT you're wearing a motorcycle helmet!" "YESSSS !!!!" "No photo of you! Why no photo of you" "I HATE THOSE PHOTO 'ME IN FRONT OF BRIDGE, ME IN FRONT OF TOWER, ME IN FRONT OF BAR, ME IN FRONT OF THIS AND THAT AND THIS AND THAT...' " "You're an abnormal person" "Photographs are for the scene, not for having the same people grinning like apes and covering any photo" "There is something wrong with you" "You folks only want to adore yourself" "You're an associal person!" "Really? And you're are all just self-regarding egocentrics" "There is something wrong with you" "It's my thing, isn't it ?!" "....... but WHY are you never on photos???!!!" "AAAAAAHHHHHHH $*%T!!X}!& !!!!" (here happened the usual daily tragedy of a usual family)
  4. seems it's discontinued. One still can find some NOS (in Europe) though. An alternative is a 2nd hand StudioLogic VMK-161 'Waterfall' which is sold at (european) 2nd hand portals for ca. 200 bucks: first-gen Fatar TP/8o (longer keys than actual TP/8o), no organ high trigger.
  5. no believe - YC61 keys have no weights added. It's a 'simplistic plastic hinge' action (no springs).
  6. Roland states (Roland Shermany ' Piano knowhow') : half-weighted = 'normal keys' PLUS key-weights. Afair this is what the 'common understanding' is since decades Me seems those definitions of halfweighted as 'with stiffer springs' or 'different escapment' are extremly diffuse and unprecise. Probably more of a marketing buzzwording effort to attribute (cheap) unweighted 'piano-styled' bugdet keyboards some 'additional value' and dilute the fundamental difference between a spring action and a hammer action.
  7. CT-S1 is un-weighted. Weighted have per definition a 'key-weight' (a metal plate fixed into each key' - theoretically one could also produce 'heavier keys without weights just by filling the key ends with 10-20 gramm plastic material - but afaik this does not exist as it would require completely different molds). The Casios have slighly 'stiffer' synth-actions, with the keys themself being 'light'. The feel between an unweighted and semi-weighted is very different though - this is simple Newton physics (momentum, inertia ... ) In the last years it happens more and more often that manufacturers delcare un-weighted as 'semi-weighted' - this is only for marketing reasons (it recently happened with Yamaha YC and CK - which are both unweighted keys) - frankly speaking it's a marketing lie.
  8. CTRLR EDITOR v1.12.20: bugfix & feature release This bugfix/feature release fixes important bugs in V-SYNTH/VSSD and STAGE-RHYTHM and adds some new features: V-SYNTH/VSSD: added 'Cutoff Aftertouch Sens' and 'Level Aftertouch Sens' in FILTER/AMP section and 'Mouse-button/Wheel scrolling' buttons to PCM-Wave select box. Fixed fixed disfunctional pcm wave select box in V-SYNTH STAGE 'Rhythm' : added PAN, fixed disfunctional drumkit selector box, consolidated drumkit list ATELIER DRUM (kit): corrected false drum-kit list minor bugfixes Handling improvement for those who use V-SYNTH/VSSD 'pcm-waves' : the new little 'mouse scroll' buttons at right hand of each pcm-wave selector box allow to scroll very fast through the pcm-waves by mouse-click or mouse-wheel direct download : https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1_CJVGF0tACCxr1m0Y5yw7YLWEg1bvMF0 v-combo website : https://v-combo.webspace.rocks/editor-vr09-730
  9. post Disco, pre Disco .... love Future Shock 'modernised fusion'. than this "Future-2-Future Live" DVD (it's on YT but DVD has amazing 5.1 experience): a flight through modal and chromatic free jazz, spiritual concepts, hiphop turntable breaks, vocoded groove, world music, transcendental synth noise sound scapes and instrumental solos - a harmonical and rhythmical all-day journey packed in two hours that always leaves me physically exhausted.
  10. Thanks, amigo, you got me ! Imagine this sweet song - video with the Mickey Mouse piano ... Ok, let's move over to Tom&Jerry ... well, honestly, even that would not match ... too 'classical' Maybe the "DP" (Disney-Piano) suits those concert halls Sunday matinees for introducing the young into classical music ? (Seriously!)
  11. I like the piano graphics ... but when Lang Lang starts playing the 'combination' looks ... totally ridiculous 🤡 Maybe if he'd perfome some Disney children movie tunes ?
  12. don't want to be annoying in any way .... but please don't reference ctrlr.org anymore: the website is abandoned by its owner and 'out off date' VR09/730 editor is here: https://v-combo.webspace.rocks/editor-vr09-730 VR700 editor (which adds 'hidden' functionality to 700) is here: https://v-combo.webspace.rocks/roland-vr700-v-combo-editor
  13. CTRLR EDITOR hotfix v1.12.19 : 'GM2 volumes' this little hotfix is only relevant to those (if there are any ... ) that use 'GM2-engine' mode in panel SOUND-GM2: Fixes erratic behaviour of the 'channel volume' settings. n.b. the release also adds 'hidden' pitch bend range of +/-15 halftones in kbd config (VR factory is 12 halftones ) direct download : https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1_CJVGF0tACCxr1m0Y5yw7YLWEg1bvMF0 v-combo website : https://v-combo.webspace.rocks/editor-vr09-730
  14. You could have "read the f*****g manual" where it is explained Or watched Dexibells excellent webinars on Youtube which, amongst all other things, explain step by step custom patch installation - afair there is an one hour plus video only about the EPs (download, install, layering, customising). Or you could simply have emailed Dexibell (I was 'only interested' in J7 but got detailed, friendly explanations to all my questions and was asked for personal opinion for improving the units). You may not have liked the APs - or just missed download/install the timbres you like, as there is Hamburg, Yamaha, Bechstein, Fazioli, 'old French' + all their 'live/bright/etc' variants - the old FP10 is a ... err... 'rather non-brilliant' sound - maybe the warm sounding 'French' could have been yours. Definitely the APs are the exact opposit of 'crapp' - they are technically highly resolved, super long decay, no looping, huge polyphony, wide sounding resonances. The only thing one could complain that they sound 'overly perfect' - sligtly cold - which is a todays general trend (even Roland jumped on then train with their FP-X models) Finally one has to understand that Dexies are italian made - Italians have a particular 'idea of sound' - it's their tradition of 'ancient' and popular music - and there's a good portion of it in the Dexibells (e.g. the tonewheel sound) - like it or not.
  15. 100% agree (just one precision: on VR one can recall single sounds via midi but not complete 'registrations' - the latter being a pain in the a.... absolutely incomprehensible why Roland did not deliver a fix after all the owners claims) Midi: right, VRs capabiltiy to control external gear is basically null (or at least complicated to setup with sysex-to-CC mappers) - on the other hand you can use an external controller to play VRs complete Roland GS/SC heritage sound palette ... like a XV or SC module ... We could continue this 'shootout' CK vs. VR for hours - it won't make sense: although both cover the 'budget all-in-one-gigging-board' segment each has its strong points and weak points, none is 'better' or 'worse' - it's upon each ones 'spec sheet' to decide which of both fits in. @CHarrell: right, the VA-synth is that of JP-80/Integra/Gaia
  16. not sure (despite of being a notorious critic of VR09s flaws): few days ago tried the filters in CK (for synth related sounds): not only they are far far away from anything that could seriously be called 'resonance' - with reso at max (still far from what the synth nerds call eigen-resonance), in 95% of pads/leads the 'cutoff sweeps' induce awful artefacts: loud jumps, steps, cracklings, completely different 'sounds' - sometimes even alternating between R and L channel. this is absolutely not the case with VR: you can use its filter to make sounds hurl and cry as in a 'real synth'. At this point we still have not haven taken into account VRs hidden multi-layer/timbral zones with 4 zones and 9-fold timbrality which makes a huge difference when layering even classic fat brass/string background or solo parts. An then we yet have not talked about the ~2000 hidden GM/GS/Sound-Canvas sounds (e.g. by external controller). the pros of CK vs. VR are: acoustic pianos/grands (a HUGE pro though), FX per zone, speakers, audio-to-usb the pros of VR vs CK are: the not perfect but ways better organ engine (in all aspects including integration of pedal bass), the zones/mulitlayers, the synth-engine including Virtual-Analog, the easy-going usb-recorder (and if you like the inbuild rhythms, looper, d-beam controller) -- Seriously: try to achive something like this on a CK (this was just at the beginning of discovery of VR09 secrets, more sounds have been deflowered since ...)
  17. out of curiosity (I could not remember that an acoustic 're-sounds' even 10 seconds after the key release) I just checked this on a) VR09 b) Casio Stage piano: in both cases the damper works 'as it should': on all grand/piano sounds a damper action short time after key release re-enganges a (silent) outfading sound. This is because a 'piano' continues to 'vibrate' (the whole device and also the strings) for 1-2 seconds despite the dampers back on the strings. Relifting the damper allows the strings to 'recapture' the vibrations - but this is rather a kind of 'sympathetic reverb' sound, and it only works if the pedal is reengaged within those 2 seconds on any patch other than (acoustic) pianos, lifting sustain pedal does end the tones - pour toujours - no 'continuation' of the sounds release when repushing the pedal. It seems what happens on the Yam that is revives the entire 'release phase' of a sound what is imho very different from the 're-damper' effect of a piano. So either it's a bug (software glitch, constraint of the sound chip, etc) or it's a 'design philosophy' of Yamaha (for what ever reason) - or they don't have the 're-damper effect in the piano modeling and tried to compensate it with a 'workaround'
  18. VR700 CTRLR EDITOR 1.01.4 - please repeat download those who already downloaded: please download again (there was a bug that could appear when starting the editor)
  19. when VR700 entered the marked, its layering and splitting were the hottest wet dreams of any proud owner of a 'glorious Red' (who, of course, would have never admitted). Even todays Electro 6D has less layering/split capabilities R nearly went bankrupt because they missed (ignored ?) the transition of society from 'technical focus' to 'fashion' for a much too long time. While 'the consumer' had shifted towards 'style' and 'shiny happy PR bubble-bubble', R continued to behave like a nerdish synth manufacturer in Smith/Moog style - quite unfavorable for 'big business' in modern times
  20. note that (at least for me) the 'hidden Cosm MFX' is a game changer: one can add to any Ensemble sound pedal-controlled wah, amp-types like 'JC 120' (or some guitar-hero blasters), the 'VR Rotary', customise the sympathetic resonance and EQ of Grands etc etc etc ... and layer 2 identical (!) sounds and 'detune' them for fat, warm synth pads (just created the obligatory Jump patch - what a difference to VRs thin, digital 'factory' Jump patch ...) ... and the whole MFX/layer/detune sh*t saves to onboard Favorites the only constrain is VRs weight - something very lovely about VR09
  21. we already got 2 (!) handfull members 🤡

  25. Hi, VR700 Editor v1.01.3 "beta4" release: there was a 'heavy' bug in previous beta releases that lead to 'ghost changes' on VR700. beta4 fixes the bug and can be downloaded following https://v-combo.webspace.rocks/roland-vr700-v-combo-editor For those who got 'security warnings': the webhoster is using 'modern' certificates ("Let's Encrypt"). These seem to occasionally cause problems with outdated Macs and hysterical 'antivirus' programs. The site is neither infected nor 'dangerous' - believe it or not, that's your personal problem (in fact the site is the accumulated book of wisdom for Roland V-Combo 09/730 ) Those who cannot fix their security issues can download the editor directly from the google drive (it includes also a pdf 'screen dump' of the website showing installation instructions): https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1KbBqdkDW8eYyAESh-qqkZmEN35g1SXwr
