  1. So I own the Motif XF8, MOXF6, MOX6, and the MX49, and I haven't really noticed any difference in the overall organ sound in any of the keyboards that use the XF Samples (all of which I happen to own) I haven't dug too deeply into the MX so it's possible that the presets are just edited better and have been tweaked to allow for the MX's more limited FX palette. However, I think the base samples are the all the same. (I could be wrong on this) I've been wondering lately if adding a Ventilator would make using the Motif organs more fun, as one of the major limitations seems to be the Leslie. I think you would also need some sort of Vibrato/Chorus pedal (or you could just use the Yamaha onboard FX), and then you could just strip the Yamaha Voices down to the basic Elements (i.e., samples) and run them dry to the Vent and FX pedal(s). Obviously wouldn't be a completely authentic Hammond experience but for basic pads and solos it might be adequate for cover bands, and one-offs. Anyone tried this?
  2. Hi Eric, Thanks! I prefer the longer throw/travel of the FC7, but I like having one pedal for both boards. With my midi routing it is easy to forget which voice in the split is coming from which keyboard.
  3. Hi all, Here are some pics of my Top 40/Wedding/Corporate gig rig. I made the pedal board and am using the XVP10 so I can send expression to both keyboards from one pedal. I recently started using the Yamaha MG06X and my solution to the annoying flimsy wall wart issue was to velcro the plug to my K10 and then run a separate 9 ft extension for it from the power strip alongside the QSC power cable. I run everything in mono (and edit patches accordingly) and use a TS cable from the mixer's Phones output for the QSC, and the sound guy takes one of the XLR outs from the mixer. This allows me to turn up the stage volume without affecting the signal to the board. The MOXF has a MUTEC 2 GB flashboard with some nice samples on it. The stand is a K&M "Rick" with the stacker. I just noticed the alignment is off, I must have set it up slightly lopsided...
  4. Hi all, This is my first time posting, but I've been lurking for awhile. Obviously this topic has probably been covered ad nauseaum but here is my two cents. I play a lot of Top 40 corporate/wedding gigs where I find it is easier to just set all my patches to mono. I usually collapse all the stereo effects and center all the panned elements (Yamaha...) Yamaha has a mono piano sound that is ok, but I've found I like the Nord Pianos better for mono playing and for cutting through a mix. To my ear they are more even dynamically and compressed, which helps the mids compete with guitar, etc. Nord also has a mono on button which I believe uses an algorithm to deal with the phase cancellation issues. Right now I'm using the large file size Silver Grand from the Nord piano library which is about 100 mb.
