  1. How do you get an image to show here? I am using IMGUR where the above image of the new logo is hosted but all that shows is the link when I try to post an image.
  2. It was a modern design style at one time, yes.
  3. This does beg the question, "How is a Play button relevant to a musicians network logo?" This has a sort of novice's approach. It is just replicating a common design style without regard for context, (i.e. the stacked words forming a rectangle = common....making the Play button out of the O = misses the context).
  4. http://www.airnetworking.com/images/TWW.jpg For the greatest entertainment at your event book this comedian using a band as a stage prop! .
  5. A temporary accommodation of the hard left "centering" can be implemented by opening the sidebar where Bookmarks are displayed if you use Firefox. It shifts the layout over about 2 inches. I didn't anticipate how I would feel so much better with this where it belongs. Before After
  6. On my system it has been hard left since the last closest thing to an overhaul. OSX 10.10.5 all versions of Firefox from then to current version. But it now appears to be even harder left like no space at all. Before it was not centered but there was maybe a couple of character spaces from the very edge of the browser window. Different topic: I think the area for the avatar is very cluttered looking. Needs more blank space like signage needs blank space for it to be easy on the eyes. The text is justified to the left. It might look better justified centered and the font i point or 2 smaller. The avatar is too large for the allotted space. I also do not see value in the locations being active links to a map. It would be fine if the active link did not have the underline. But the underline only adds to the clutter. Somehow Kawaii James's looks good. If the avatar size was limited to what he has it could all work. But with a larger avatar and when people post the city state and country and the city is two longer words it is an eyesore.
  7. Regardless of the instrument, I am the audience you want at your gig. Just play in open air outdoors and it makes me smile. If I heard the same thing on the radio I might turn it off in a fraction of a split second. Open air is very forgiving of bad sound systems too.
  8. It is common for people to win those things by default because if there is any competition they do not get included for a variety of reasons. I have seen "Voted Best..." and thought most people do not pay attention and care to cast a vote. It is probably possible to win with one vote.
  9. "Owned up" perhaps it was just someone making a joke? The Beatles formed in 1960. The Beach Boys formed in 1961. The first Beatles record was released in 1962. I doubt the band members even heard of The Beatles in 1961 let alone considered they would gain anything by being placed near them in a record store. Supposedly the song "Surfin" inspired their choice for the band's name. History of The Beach Boys
  10. Some people do things like this because one or more people (important to this person) respond favorably and it can become habitual. There is nothing to be concerned about regarding their mental health although it suggests insecurity. It is more like immaturity and a misguided idea of what is interesting and appropriate. I knew a girl who would reenact thought processes and conversations while telling a story. I knew her long before she adopted this routine. She admired someone who did this effectively and had incorporated it into her personality to great failure. It was annoying instead of entertaining or interesting. I wanted to say "STOP! I don't need you to act it out for me."
  11. You could do it all with After Effects. There are very good You Tube tutorialls. By all I mean create a variety of very interesting light fog sparky electrical logos not all as in each thing you described, no 3D etc.
  12. I'm running a nicely spec'd Mac mini with a Thunderbolt 3 eGPU. Adding the eGPU made FCPX run as well as it runs on my Mac Book Pro (which is fairly loaded). I haven't had any issues with apps (including Logic) and the eGPU. My total cost was 1/2 of the new Mac Pro cost (already had the display and external TB drive array). It is a serious option if the new Mac Pro is overkill. I still have an older Mac Mini. I have loved it. I had to upgrade to something to run certain software and it was not going to be a Windows system. I built a Hackintosh. Now that Apple has these new Mini's I will consider what you are doing. I do not want to have to go the Hackintosh route. The Mac Pros are overkill for my application.
  13. The choice comes down to a Mac Mini or an investment surpassing the cost of a Mini Cooper. I love the Minis but their weakest link for me is the graphics capability. "fugly" Apple holds records at both ends of the spectrum. They have produced elegant beauty that everyone is attempting to emulate, some to great success. They have also produced crazy ideas like that white desk lamp looking thing and the television set looking iMacs.
  14. I got a great deal on it with a bunch of libraries by winning a charity auction bid. It makes gorgeous sounds. It is CPU hungry so you will need a decently powerful CPU.
  15. I have not heard of it being addressed in the media or by the band and I just did a quick Google for it before posting this but I have always thought Billy Gibbons was paying homage to Leon Redbone with the vocal style on La Grange. Maybe it is just his deep voice doing John Lee Hooker? [video:youtube]
  16. The outstanding iTunes thing in my mind is the quality of the sound. I have detested 99% of DSP since it started showing up in devices and software in the 90's. But Apple continues to do some things better than anyone. Perhaps "DSP" is not the accurate label identifying what I am thinking of. In iTunes it is called Sound Enhancer. DSP may cover a broader range of techniques than I am thinking of. But I hear that cheap sounding enhancement I am thinking of in TV's, sound systems, headphone amps, and I have heard it applied to live recordings (for instance, the most recent Genesis tour.....just destroyed the beauty of the bass pedals). Apple definitely has deteriorated their superior status though. Yet there is still a lot of room between them and alternatives. It would be a cold day in Hell before I would give up Apple/Mac/OSX and switch over to Windows.
  17. The potential to reset a sleep cycle is there and if you use it counter to your main routine you might put in motion an inconvenient or incompatible sleeptime cycle. But it is temporary. Your body is producing melatonin with the cycles of daylight and darkness all the time. At least in areas of the world receiving a fair amount of daylight and darkness every 24 hours the body is going to have this natural tendency to synchronize with this. But for random one-offs it can successfully trick the body into feeling it has naturally reached its nighttime level and it is ready for sleep at any time of the day whether it is in conjunction with winding down well past your regular bedtime or some window of opportunity in the middle of the day.
  18. Whether it is supported by medical research or not, which I have not found that it is, staying asleep is irrelevant given the OP's problem. Additionally, there is an obvious benefit of falling asleep to beginning the process of achieving quality rest. I do sleep deeper....I have not been hooked up to any monitoring to truly measure depth......I just know I tend to sleep without waking, I have dreamed and I wake up feeling more rested and this is on call. The "on call" is crucial as I have had trouble turning off and shutting down for rest. It has been relatively easy to push myself and that became the norm so I could go a long time with less rest. The concepts of push/force/drive cannot be applied to letting go/relaxing/shutting down in order to sleep. When I grow tired I tend to have boosts or bursts which bring me back and as the requirement for sleep comes, (i.e. knowing I will only have a certain window to get it in before I will not have another opportunity for too long a period), I cannot take advantage of it. I may only toss and turn with butterflies or get a shallow rest not fully in deep sleep mode if I finally fall asleep. Melotonin has allowed me to work around all of this and get the best quality of rest and in the given time I have. It does not work every time for me unfortunately but it does help frequently. As for placebos, again, I have not been hooked up to monitoring it could all be a placebo effect. I have tried other things with less to no success. Medical research suggests Melatonin works for many people in a variety of applications.
  19. Public speaking is not this guy's forte. He appears to have studied or taken a course and is applying a list of techniques but nothing works like it is supposed to. Melatonin in the form of a liquid spray, not the tablet/pill or drop forms, works on me to get a deeper level of rest when I have to sleep on call.
  20. Did the "all high-egergy" music as requested fit in retrospect?
  21. Look under forum Preferences and uncheck the box for Weirdly overly zoomed out place 2-3 times too large and you should be good to go.

  23. I live with multiple forms of synesthesia involving color associations, tactile sensations (i.e. feeling ideas as shapes in my mouth), hearing with my eyes and seeing with my ears.
