  1. If you love cats you may already know about this one. Simon Tofield successfully depicts typical cat nuances in most episodes, meaning the movement and characterizations. At least this element is where these really shine IMO. The bonus, cartoons are immortal. Simon's Cat
  2. BTW, I love your piano intro. That original source is superior to the later one. You did well with it. I may be reading into it but you seemed to treat it as precious as it is delicate. I would like to be able to play that now. I personally get what your vocalist is aiming for. Like Elvis there is the young fit/studio Nicks and the older road/drug worn Nicks. She has sounded and looked substantially different than those youthful days for the majority of her years now. Even though I have heard the studio versions countless times there are numerous live versions spanning her career once she started performing solo which have a lot in common with one another. I like some of the consistent live interpretations better in many instances. An aside, it is always interesting how some people engage in long conversations during performances. It is one thing to make brief comments on the moment at hand but so many people seem to be oblivious to the setting. I realize this venue was more of a club but I hear it at full blown concerts of legends.
  3. There used to be and may still be an authentic Italian restaurant in the South SF Bay Area which has history in the air. It has been decades since I was there but they had been at the location for a long time. It was a building reminiscent of Italy with imported decor from Italy. The waiter staff seemed to be first generation Italian. Eating there was a relished process in stages ending with coffee and tiramisu. Olive Garden is Olive Garden. Round Table Pizza is Round Table pizza. Neither are Italian cuisine. There are definite differences. Sometimes I crave one or the other but I do not think of either when someone suggests going out to dinner and having Italian. Olive Garden's zuppa toscana is good, the accompanying bread is dreadful. I have believed "GN" is pronounced nnyaay: Bolognese is Bul-lo-nnyaay-say Gnocchi is nnyaw-kee
  4. If you spend more than a glance's worth of time identifying those threads (which are not exactly titled in anyway that you would mistake the theme or so intriguing you would feel compelled to click on one) you are wasting your own time and it looks like you will have to block yourself too.
  5. I have great sympathy for public figures who are vulnerable to things like this. The videos show it was not a solid connection fortunately. I say Arnold even looks more solid at 71 than that kick. Several years ago I saw a picture of him shirtless on a beach and it seemed like all the muscle had gone to fat or loose skin and they did use CGI to beef him up in the last couple of Terminators but aside from the bad dye job he seems to be staying in good shape. Arnold is the posterboy for metabolism supporting body building mass over 60.
  6. This is not exactly the case. Handcock offers 25 classes. You pay for access to them. You can buy a single class or pay for all-access on an annual basis. Theoretically you could watch and do all 25 within one year. Are you talking about the one on Masterclass.com? Cause I paid the 90 bucks once it came out and still have access to that. No payment on annual basis or anything - it's lifetime access. The way I composed the sentence can be interpreted differently than you have but it is my fault for not being more specific. I meant to distinguish the "buy" option from the "all-access" option but it reads as though the two have more in common. The "on an annual basis" only applies to the all-access option as separated by the "or." Ideally I should have added how you would own it implying for life but in my mind the concepts of "buy" and "pay on an annual basis" covered it.
  7. This is not exactly the case. Handcock offers 25 classes. You pay for access to them. You can buy a single class or pay for all-access on an annual basis. Theoretically you could watch and do all 25 within one year. Even if it took 2 it would be less than the Doley course. But, as mentioned, you would have the Doley course for life. Monaco offers DVD's and downloads, which you would own for life, of topics in addition to ongoing instruction which is hiring him as a live tutor (you can choose in person or online).
  8. This may not be worth two cents but Ill offer it freely. Some video courses focus on universal tips and techniques while some focus on the mindset and style of a specific player. That said, the scope of the Doley course seems more focused on playing like Doley. Are you inspired wanting to blend his style with your own? You probably know this and are really wanting to hear from decent players who have experienced the course to see whether they found it worthwhile. I am just a non-professional noodler and have not done the course. FWIW I would choose the Monaco course. It can be purchased in increments, I didnt check for overall time comparisons but you can buy everything for significantly less, it appears to have a broader scope and I happen to like the way he articulates his ideas. Aside from the production and content quality of a video course value derived is subjective and you have the usual factors of where you are at, what you want to be, what you are looking for, how much money you have to spend, how serious you are and realistic you are in terms of utilization and committment to the investment, etc..
  9. I would like to add the reason I tied the book/film together with this story. In the book/film I mentioned the humans raised for harvesting were viewed as soulless and expendable. The book/film focuses on the love between the humans who are to be harvested. One friend has the job of being there for the friends to be harvested as the final part is removed ending their life. I do not mean to suggest the instrument here equates to human level however I do see a correlation in that someone recognized something loved and respected this enough to take the whole thing and did not present the idea of "parting it out" to those who loved it.
  10. Not surprised they were in tears. This story reminded me of a profoundly sad book by Kazuo Ishiguro and well-executed as a film Never Let Me Go which is about raising people in order to harvest their body parts. You have a good heart. You spared them the darkness of impracticality. Inanimate objects can almost have a life and soul to some people when they associate them with people they have loved and when these things have been around for generations.
  11. Mozart was amazing at improv. [video:youtube]7u4Mmv90BWc
  12. DACs do not produce noticeable differences in audiophile gear after a relatively low threshold is reached. It is an area where people pay more simply because they believe more must mean better. Maybe specs are better but it cannot be heard with your ears, only your imagination.
