  1. At first thought, I didn't care about being no.1 But, it would be a nice tribute to a very special designer( eye's don't tear up Now,lol) But, seriously Aspen deserves a winner because a winner He is. Or sompin' like dat.
  2. Oh..common...Joe, why do you have to burst our bubble? This post doesn't have to compete. It is unique in it's own way. As is this product! Now go do your chores! The wife will be home soon.
  3. I am happy with the EV's yes. However, I haven't heard the Begringer sub. I own 2 small powered Euro 8" and horn little 15lb. speakers that have paid for themselves So, I wouldn't knock them today. At one time I would never buy The B brand because of the bad rep. That being said, any co. Can have so,so product. Best wishes with your new toy!
  4. I know it's not selectable but, I thought that the outs were cut off at 100htz? Maybe time to call EV? Are you certain about this? Just wondered. For me, it doesn't matter because I mix my sub (s) out of an aux from my Mackie DL1608 So, I can control it how ever I wish( I'm a bonafied control freak!) eq,compression.volume Thanks for your info. Now is it 100 pg. time yet!?!?
  5. [most recommended by Aspen and some others is the Behringer B1200D It's less than 50lbs and has the ever important high pass filter @100htz Among other features and is affordable @ $299.00. I am using a similar unit made by EV the ZXA-1 Sub. It Has a high pass out Also@100htz about same size and weight but is twice as much@$599.00 But, if your concerned with the B name. Here's this is an a option. Others have found good use with small bass amps. Can't remember the model But, one that weighs in at 27lbs. Have a look back in one of the chapters here it's been covered. Congrats!
  6. Another outside gig this weekend with the 2 SS aboard. This time I am going to try putting the 2 stacked behind us straight ahead Or slightly turned but all facing te same including the subs. I may also try switching the cables on one of the units since it is upside down And see what that might sound like. I bought another Ev ZXa-1 sub so it'll be two subs and two SS. Hope I'm not over doing it but, I think this will be A good combo. Sold the kw181 just too much for this old Man to lug anymore hense using the 2 subs. I think having a bit more distance From the Spacestation will yeild a better over all experience. Even though I though our last gig worked well I'd like to hear the spread More.
  7. Sorry, it's more a suggestion than theory. Something that Aspen suggested would Keep better time alignment. I came here more for general use And live experiences more so than To discuss the ins and outs of how It works.not that I mind reading about it. However, just looking for hands on use.
  8. Gig with two units went well. Next time however, I will Probably have the sub facing the same direction as the SS's Being omni that shouldn't matter but, I think it sounded Better with all speakers facing the same. I had the SS's facing to the left on top the sub With the sub facing forward.
  9. No disrespect to anyone who understands (or believes) this information. I understand some of it but, I don't feel the need to worry too much About it at this point. And my comments were not geared towards Aspen who knows his product. I used his advice because he knows and has plenty experience With it. More than I. So, please Discuss the details Of how you think it works or doesn't or should or shouldn't. I just want to get to the point of using it in a real application. I know that most of the world here is using only one SS. Which BTW I do also for most of my jobs. I'm only Playing with the idea of two. Not everyone here is using it solely As a keyboard or instrument mon./amp. This is THE p.a. For me now so,I want to be certain to fill my space. Maybe one is plenty but, two sure shouldn't hurt. And I've tried it in an outside space and feel it to be effective. This is my focus. Sorry if I offended anyone.
  10. BTW, I just bought a couple subs to use with my Spacestation v3 I bought a used S18E-C Bag End and a smaller S12E-C for my indoors/ Smaller gigs. I haven't got the Elf M2 yet but, soon. I used these back in the 90's and loved them it's more of a feel than a woof. They are slightly easier to handle than the KW181 I just sold. I am not getting any younger. Kw was too bulky.besides I really like the sound on the Bag End. Don't do rap so I don't want boom boom. Just a nice solid thud And fast attack.i am using the 18" tonight eq d with 2 SS. One upside down In same cable order. Stacked, turned maybe 30 deg. To my left From the stage perspective. That' it no other cabs or monitors. Do have a little Powered 8" Behringer euro cab. If needed as a monitor I am bringing Just in case. Should be a great night.
  11. I did try that and to be honest with you I like it the other way better in my "EARS" I am trying to stay away from all the "psycho-babble" about the physics Or whatever and rely on the sound alone. Because I very much Doubt ,unless the folks here discussing "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" Come to hear me. NOONE in my audience cares about that. If it works And sounds right then use it!
  12. That's something that Aspen told me to try. And I thought the same thing. I tried outside this way and it sounded good to me. I circled around and I thought it did well. I can't confirm Your results fully because it was a very windy day. And it's really Hard to tell. It may not be as even all the way across. But. It filled and I heard everything I think the audience would Want to hear. I originally had them stacked the same. It was Aspen Who recommended it. So maybe he could chime in on this?
  13. Sorry. Not every situation is the same. Hope you get it figured out.
  14. Humx if it don't work you can return it. Works for me.i don't work for them just Like what it does and very small device. I would get so much interference that I swear I heard Neil Armstrong on the moon.
  15. I stack them with one set upside down using A couple spacers I Made out of 2" x 1" this is in theory Keeps time alignment. I 'll be using it Like this along with a sub this weekend So I'll try to report my use.my thought Is to have them slightly behind us And pointed to the side just enough For monitor. We use midi set up backing With ac.guitar and electric guitar Two vocals mainly wineries.inside, I can get away with one small sub and One SS. Btw, The sound just gets fuller and bigger With two and fills nice for outside or Bigger rooms I like not hiding behind mains on Stands and Tripping on floor monitors. thanks for asking.i was hoping someone else Would find interest in the idea
  16. I use the Humx by Ebtech and it took away the noise. I had quite a bit at times. It seems to pick up a lot of Bad power issues and amplify them. I don't know. But, I recommend it. I use two SS's (I sound like a snake) And very quite now. Everywhere I play. I mentioned before here but, in case it was missed in this novel.
  17. God bless ya! Are you insured? Obama care at the minimum? I guess if it pays and it makes you happy then it's worth it! And I'm very sure the listener appreciates it. I for one, am never satisfied. So, you have my envy. Go with what works.it is a proven product also. Aspen has something special to offer also. It's just a matter of what you like. And I'm liking what He has made us. No, it's not a Leslie. But,it gives enough Of that kind of magic in a bit smaller frame. A magic of it's own. And that is what this thred is about. So, a new thred makes perfect sense for your admiration Of your devices. Certainly would be warranted.
  18. I can only speak from my experience and use of the SS. Love it for the mere fact that it covers a lot of ground in a small package. I am not a keyboard player. I've played keys for some of my own recording But, I am more of a singer and guitar player. For my use, it fits the bill. It doesn't replace a perfectly set Of speakers panned hard left and right.but, you can't get this in a live Situation. At east not for everyone. With the SS I can get An even dispersion of left and right information Much Better Than a typical mono system. It is more or less stereo omni to me. It works as a small pa and covers monitoring so far. Time will tell. But so far so good!
  19. EV ZXA1 Sub has 100hz out also. But, twice the price of the Behringer. I use the EV for small gigs and sounds great. Don't know how it compares to the Behringer. Third gig Sat.April 25th With the SS in what might be me toughest room thus far. I'm hoping the SS is going to perform her magic in this hard surface Room. Which I was told, should be a place the SS will shine.
  20. After further talk with Aspen. I believe stacking these will be my best option To start. I'm not sure weather to stack these on top of the sub(kw181) Or set them up close on a stand or something that goes above the sub height. Any thought's or ideas are welcome. Thanks
  21. You know..the ussual. Anyway..my approach is to use these with a sub(kw181) For my larger outside venues. Not as just a monitor but front of house and monitor. I did a short trial outside. Heres a rough idea of how it sounds... With two unts stacked it sounds basically like one only A bit beefier but,the coverage was nice and even maybe a bit More in the middle if you will. But overall it would give you More of the same but more power and gurth! The next thing I tried (which is what I am hoping to use) Is a spaced pair. These were about 12ft from each other & not quite As far as I plan but cables where short. I've tried it w/both facing forward. and what I found here Tended to sound more like a traditional one on the left, one on the rght Set up, but is much wider over all than any two speaker set up. The coverage was very good but when you start to walk towards the Middle it starts to get hot and cold(colapse)and very a bit,not terrable But,not really what I want.(more than likely a phase issue) Next I moved the speakers about 30 deg. Facing away from each other On each side and I found this to be about the best use as A spaced pair, not perfect but, it covered very well, the middle Didn't colapse quite as badly, livable. The one thing I notice On the spaced pair is that you get a bit more hi freq. coverage Over all vs a single unit. It won't give you the even dispertion Vs one unit or two stacked but, I think over all it will be a good compromise And certainly more coverage than any two speaker system I've used. I did have a Dual Bose system I used before and ran it stereo And it did okay. But, this with a powerful single sub should Out perform that. Not to mention that you won't loose Your left right information anywhere. I use a single system for most gigs With a smaller EV sub and it seems to be working out well So far! With no monitors and no speaker stands blocking Anyones view. So, I feel it to be very promising thus far. I am farely convinced two will work for my larger outside jobs. One sub two SS and thats it.
