  1. I kind of suspected the numa 2 had moved away from the keyb engine , the bottom few drawbars sound improved but the upper ones didn't sound quite as rich as the keyb , but that could be the organ model or the nature of the recordings . still , if it's not a step backwards it's quite an achievement , the keyb models are some of the best out there IMO . I've always liked the sound of brian auger's Hammond , it suits his energetic syle . I wonder if the improved keybed feel will make its way into their vmk 61 note controller ?
  2. looking forward to your assessment of the numa 2 ( if it makes it to namm )so far there seems to be a lot of mixed reviews ,mixed info ( keyb- not keyb ), even mixed audio examples on you tube ( maybe that's due to how it's being amplified ? )anyway , I would expect an improvement , not the opposite
  3. since you have a numa2 ,would you know if it enables you to run an 11 pin leslie and also the internal sim from it's 1/4 inch outputs simultaneously . the original numa wouldn't do it . if the sim was on , it was also present in the 11 pin output . to power a leslie you have to turn off the sim but then all the 1/4 inch outs are also dry . according to the manuel you are supposed to be able to run both but mine never did . the keyb organs to this , it's a very handy feature
  4. in the 3rd position ( enabling both the numa and the tyros ) don't you lose the velocity ? this is how the numa 1 does it
  5. when the guitar version of the studio 12 first came out , didn't they offer a version of it without an internal amp ? , I could use something like that .
  6. on the videos it sounds somewhat thicker or gutsier than the original , I'd love to hear it through a leslie , come to think of it , there are almost no examples on youtube of either the numa or keyb organs through leslies , the internal sound is that good, IMO
  7. according to keyboardpartner they have special firmware which makes the hx3 completely compatable with keyb organ midi , that's how they worded it . request it specifically when you order the expander . I believe the keyb master is approximately $ 2000 , but I could be off on that . It weighs 41 lbs . I can tell you keyb makes quality hardware , I've been using their expander module for the last 3 years , it's nicely built for sure
  8. if anyone is interestd , I spoke to elvio at keyb recently and he mentioned that he had a few keyb masters in stock , hx3 expander is compatable with it with firmware they now have available
  9. I caught a youtube clip of jim alfredson showing some big john patton bass lines , so now I,m listening to a lot of big john patton , nice stuff
  10. how is the chorus/vibrato ? I haven't heard any videos where you can clearly hear it . other than that it sounds great , very analogue , it sounds big , like a real tonewheel organ
  11. the reason I asked was that I've been waiting for a response from elvio for about a week and a half now , been trying to get some info on the keyb live . anyway I can tell you the expander turned out to be a good purchase . my apologies to everyone for this thread within a thread , my fault .
  12. you've been having trouble getting in touch with elvio ? can I ask how long ago that was ?
  13. I got it from b-3 guys in 2011 for $1600 , which turned out to be too much , dmi later had it listed at $1100 on their website . it appears that they've gone on to crash and burn . I believe you can but it direct from keyb for 1100 , b-3 guys no longer carries any of their stuff . it's been trouble free and it's solidly built . it's a keyb organ in a box , 2 sets of drawbars and 2 pedal drawbars , it even has a big knob for the c/v . there's a few you-tube videos of alberto marsico using one
  14. I have a keyb expander , it's got drawbars , an 11 pin leslie outlet and it has its own leslie sim which is second to only the vent , I'd say it's pretty close to the vent except for the overdrive
  15. when I'm using the 3300 course I have the internal sim off , I'm aware of that , I was talking about a certain clarity of tone maybe down in the midrange , to my ears ,for lack of a better term, it lacks a certain amount of body or heft . over headphones , to me , it seems to get a little more heft to it when the sim is disabled ,which one reason why I prefer the vent when I'm not using a leslie . anyway , thanks for your response , I'm looking forward to the update for sure
  16. I just came across your thread about the muddy tone on the mojo , I,ve noticed the same thing down where I would play left hand chords , it doesn't have as much body to it as compared to the keyb sound engine , I really hear the difference in the stage mix ( I play through a 3300 ), by the way , a lot of that extra leakage seems to go away when you turn off the mojo's internal sim and the tone gets a little more present also , it sounds better through a vent anyway , from what i gather it sounds like the new upgrade coming from crumar may address the tone issue , guido hinted at it when I brought up this issue on another thread , the new OS will be ready soon I think
