  1. I usually play in bands with bassist and guitarist(s), so all my LH has to do is flip pages of my music book or hold a beer. Partly because of that, I'm amazed at keyboardists who can do serious LH bass: not just root notes and simple arpeggiating or walking lines, but complex harmonic and melodic patterns. The most unbelievable LH bass I've ever heard was from James Francies with the Chris Potter trio.
  2. All great suggestions, but there's an underlying faulty assumption. That anybody in the audience and/or band, listens to a solo (or even cares about it) 😁
  3. Also, the Z2 is foldable and adds almost no bulk to the collapsed stand. The M2 is fixed and I imagine to would be a pain to stow away the stand after the gig. This may or not be a problem depending on how you plan to use the stand.
  4. Lola probably makes her living by giving masterclasses on how to play with 6" heels.
  5. I'm so sorry to read that...big wishes of a good ricovery from a fellow Italian, hang on Carlo!
  6. Ouch! Sending you some positive vibes, hope you get well soon!
  7. Saw them this summer, and I must say I was a bit underwhelmed after being a fanatic for about a dozen years. Larnell wasn't there, Shaun wasn't there, Bobby wasn't there, and of course Cory wasn't there. Even with Michael and Bill and Justin (and everybody else being the unbelievable musicians that they are), the whole thing felt a bit...stale? And yes, I can't understand what that violin player was doing there. The high point of the gig was an awesome trumpet solo with distortion and wah. And they played exactly ONE song that the audience knew: the encore. All the rest was new material from the then-still-unreleased album. So after a while everybody was quite bored and restless. This was also the very last gig of their EU summer tour, so I guess they were just thinking about going home. Conversely, I remember a pre-covid concert with both Shaun and Bobby where the atmosphere was electric from the first note to the last, those guys had everybody in the crowd on their feet dancing and shouting. Also, their latest material is a bit too much esoteric and cerebral for my tastes. Group improvisation and crazy polyrhythms are nice, but please give us some melody here and there! I guess after so many years, my honeymoon is officially over... 😉
  8. After a few days of use, any more impressions about the synth and the keybed?
  9. Will the production units still have the enormous "Legend" engraving on both sides, and the huge "full moon" leslie switch? They may be just cosmetic details, but I find them really unnecessarily annoying.
  10. Took classical piano classes with a private teacher from when I was 9 to about 20. My parents forced me to do it, so of course I hated every minute of it, especially the go***mn end-of-the-year recitals. Oh how I hated it. Of course, now it's the thing I'm most grateful for. 🙏
  11. He's also good enough to be a permanent member of one of the biggest live acts on the planet. But this still isn't enough for this forum.🤣 Apparently, somebody making money from his profession is not viewed as a good thing. But surely the poster of that comment is a much more accomplished professional musician...😋
  12. Nice buy, you won't regret it! Make sure to check the manual and experiment with the various tonal adjustments available (reverb, brilliance, damper resonance, voicing, fall-back and damper noises...). They can change the character of the pianos quite a bit, and you'll probably end up with something you like more than the factory settings, at least that was how it worked for me!
  13. That's also another thing to consider. Whatever gets young people to take up piano, is a good thing. If a kid hears a nice easy melody on a movie or tv ad and thinks "Wow, I want to learn this!", how can that be a bad thing? This happens a lot, and is probably one of the main reasons we still have a few people learning this ancient, outdated and unfashionable instrument 😉 I know there are tons of much better easy pieces in the classical repertoire, but they will rarely end up in a successful tv ad or a blockbuster movie. Every generation has its example, as Analogika said. My generation had The Piano effect by Nyman (everybody I know learned The Heart Asks Pleasure First to pick up girls). Then there was the Amelie effect, now Einaudi. Is it that bad?
  14. Hahaha guys, this is a tough crowd really. I agree with most of the above comments, probably the best adjective for his music is "harmless". Nice, relaxing, slightly evocative background music which any half-trained pianist can learn in half an hour. Still, he's huge in Italy and EU (not sure about the rest of the world) and has sold millions of records and concert tickets, and that deserves some respect in my opinion. Of course, the same stands for Tiersen, Clayderman... Talking of overrated Italian pianists with too much ego and promotion, anybody wants to comment about a certain Giovanni Allevi, defined (mostly by himself) "the new Mozart"?
  15. Yes but we're talking about a completely different thing here. I've always liked these kind of piano shells, though their use is surely limited. I can understand they have their place in a restaurant-theatre etc, but in general for a "permanent" setup, I agree a real piano can be better (with the usual caveats about size, weight, tuning etc). But if these things are relatively easy to break down and transport, they can be great for high-end gigs where the looks are just as important as the sound.
  16. Hohner organs were huge. They had full product portfolios of home organs (with wood console, speakers etc) and stage instruments for playing live. That was back in the brief days when transistors organs were the big thing, and manufacturers hoped they would become like acoustic pianos, a self-contained home orchestra of which every family would own one.
  17. I'm also not a big fan of transistor organs, but I must admit the Farfisa has some real raw power, even without distortion or effects you can blow speakers (and eardrums) at will. The Vox instead always sounded weak and cheesy to me...but I'll aknowledge that the classic Continental is probably the most beautiful keyboard ever built. If I had the space, I'd keep one in my music room only for the looks!
  18. As Governorsilver mentioned, most Sigur Ros songs are like that. This is... I can't even call it my favourite, because there are simply no words for it. It brought me to tears many times. Pure beauty and emotion in music. Please, do it justice and listen to it on a good pair of headphones.
  19. Good one. A ton of early Springsteen songs were like that, before he went headlong into the "stadium rock Anthem" style. Jungleland is my absolute favourite.
  20. The product page and specs are a bit baffling: so this is exactly the same as a Seven, only a bit lighter, without lid/legs and a reduced UI. Really hard to see its commercial viability in the crumar portfolio...unless of course the Seven is about to be discontinued
  21. I think this is intended as a competitor of the XK-5. And when you think that to have a direct H/S equivalent you have to factor in the XLK-5, the half moon and the wooden music stand, the Legend Soul's price begins to look quite competitive actually. Not to mention that it's smaller, lighter, with a more faithful interface and with more features. That said, it is still a price tag that will scare away most potential customers...me included.
  22. News from NAMM? Wasn't Viscount present with the Legend Soul and the new rotary speakers?
