  1. HIs concert included everything from Louis Armstrong to Led Zeppelin. His violinist was playing (by herself in a stunning red dress ) a beautiful classical piece and all of a sudden the band comes in playing "Kashmir." The place went nuts. The male opera singer was near the end of the concert, don't remember his name, brought everyone to tears. Chris ended playing Armstrong's "A wonderful world" playing without any amplification. Just like hearing Armstrong playing in a small club. It was amazing to just hear the instruments without any PA at all. Okay. I'll stop.
  2. Saw him Friday night in Michigan. I've been around a long time, been to more concerts than I can count, but Chris and his band has to be the best concert I've ever been to. My only complaint, the keys could have been more up front. They were there, had to struggle to hear them at times. The keyboard player played mostly accoustic piano, but he also had a Nord Stage 3, used mostly for rhodes and a Korg Kronos for strings. If you ever get a chance to see him, I highly recommend it. His violin player is in the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Sax player won all sorts of jazz awards, just killer guitar, drummer, bass and even singers. One being opera. Don't laugh. It was awesome. Just passing my experience on.
  3. LOL !!!!! Yeah, that's absolutely the M1 sound. Somewhere somebody already did an M1 set for the Kronos, if I recall correctly. There's so much more I'd rather see, personally. Maybe I'll be surprised. Fingers crossed.
  4. Don't mean to hijack this thread, but anybody know of a Z-stand that goes to at least 44 inches high? I've looked all over the net, the highest I've seen is 38 inches. Looking for something like this: http://herculesstands.com/international/products/keyboard/z-stands/ks400b/
  5. I've had it for about ten years. Super high pitch, constant, never goes away. More in my left ear than right. Of course, I have always set up stage right with the drummer's cymbals to my left. I KNOW I suffer this from those friggin cymbals. I use molded IEM's right now and it helps a lot, but I have to be very careful not to turn up the volume too high using those. Wish there was something that could help, but I've done a fair amount of research, seen a couple doctors and I'm sure I'll never hear silence again. Sad.
  6. Umm, question: Could a Korg Nano-Kontrol 2's buttons be programmed to turn on and off programs within a combination, much like using the scene buttons? I know the faders can be programmed for CX3 organs. Thanks.
  7. This is a piece I wrote last year. I kind of like the grit I got out of this lead patch starting around 3:55 or so. Of course it's a Kronos.
  8. Well, yes, you have to set up sounds in advance, but with Karma you have four scenes that can use up to 16 different sounds in any combination. For example: In one slot in setlist mode I have on scene 1 button, organ with synth on top, hit scene 2 button, I have organ with strings on top, hit scene button 3 and I have piano across entire board, hit scene button 4 and I have bass, brass and synth lead split across the keyboard. AND -- underneath the scene buttons are another set of buttons, I can use those buttons to layer any combination of sounds assigned to the top scene buttons all without cutoff of sound. Sounds confusing, but I find I only need one keyboard for most everything. Oh, I then assign samples to the touchscreen pads. Ah, one more thing: I also use the vector joystick to morph between programs/sounds. There's no way to achieve this using the new Nautilus or any other keyboard that I know of.
  9. Actually you can "seamlessly independently change your RH and LH sounds in a split" using the Karma Scene buttons. Sadly, I'm sure Kronos is the last synth we'll see with Karma.
  10. God no to all of the above !!!! Just assign the foot switch pedal to hold, assign the on-screen pads to the proper midi channel and play whatever chord you want holding the foot pedal down. Of course you need an extra foot pedal in addition to the sustain pedal. Easy-peasy.
  11. Well, with the release of the Nautilus, I doubt we'll see a new workstation anytime soon. My Kronos is really getting long in the tooth and I fear I'll be forced to pick up an alternative. The Nautilus doesn't work for me. The lack of realtime controls on the Nautilus strikes it off my list for a new board. And, for the love of God, the Nautilus 61 and 73 just looks plain awful. What the hell were they thinking with that design. Hope I'm wrong and Korg releases a new workstation in June, but I'm not holding my breath.
  12. Oh well. Thanks anyway. Thought I'd throw it out there, see if there was anybody that was very familiar. Have a fly-in date coming up, wanted to have a backup to the hardware I'll be using. I'll just have to dig in to MainStage. Thanks again.
  13. I have a macbook pro, 16 GB and Korg Nanokontrol 2 and MainStage loaded on the mac. I need someone to set up my Nanokontrol to control program/combi changes, volume changes and buttons to turn on/off different sounds in combinations. I'm completely lost trying to figure this out and I simply don't have the patience anymore. Is there anyone in Chicago or suburbs that I could contact to set this up for me? Thanks.
  14. Thank you all. Thaaaaaank Youuuuuu.
  15. I'm finding the black background on this site a little hard to read. I've looked, can't seem to find a way to change it. Is there a way? Thanks.
  16. Waiting for the Kronos 3. I predict I'll have big-time GAS if it's ever released.
  17. Well, I sent Sharp (Irish Acts) an email a few days ago, nothing. I really liked that forum, sad to see it go.
  18. I was thinking the same thing. It's still down.
  19. Korg forums has been down now for four days. Anybody else able to get on the site? korgforums.com
  20. I tried everything with my M3 screen, cleaning, calibrating numerous times, using different pencil tips to get it to work, finally got the screen replaced. Worked flawlessly until I sold it. It's a GREAT keyboard.
  21. I know it sounds silly, but why in the world is the casing of the Nautilus so much bigger than the Kronos, when the Kronos has more controls?????? Plus, the design of the Nautilus just looks plain weird IMHO. That's all.
  22. The Clear Multi already has switches 1 - 4 programmed this way, so you just need to select your sounds, and set volumes or whatever else. If it wasn't clear from the previous description, one at a time means you need to set exactly one switch in each zone, specifically: in zone 1 - set program switch 1 in zone 2 - set program switch 2 in zone 3 - set program switch 3 in zone 4 - set program switch 4 I would be sure to save this Multi with a new name in a new location, as you don't want to overwrite the original Clear Multi, as you may want to use it again to build something else from scratch. Note that this allows you to layer 4 sounds. If you really want to push one button and just solo that sound, you need to change the controller destinations from Mute Zone (149) to Solo Zone (162) and invert the logic - that is: On Value = 127 Off Value = 0 in each zone. What you are describing here is something different - the Solo Zone soft button in Multi Edit mode (PC4 Musicians Guide Rev F, page 7-42). Its purpose is to allow you to hear just one zone in a Multi while you are editing - useful if you are creating a multi with several layered zones, but not so useful while performing, as you'd have to hit edit, then hit the More soft button a few times, and finally hit the Solo Zone soft button. Hey Jarrell: Thanks for the info. Can I ask, if I use the solo zone function, will the button's light be lit? If the button does not light up it would be really difficult on dark stages. And also, is it possible to have two programs assigned to one button? Thanks again.
  23. I really wish someone would post on Youtube how to achieve what Synthaholic posted. I'm also looking how to have a multi with a program/sound assigned to each of the buttons below the sliders, be able change sounds with ONE BUTTON PUSH. And, of course, no cutoff in sound. (I know, it all depends on the number of FX's assigned to each program) I've looked all over the net and can't find a posted video how to achieve this. Thanks.
  24. I've ordered a Kurzweil PC4-7 for my all-in-one go to board. The problem with it, I ordered it in May from Sweetwater and I'm STILL waiting. Been told now hopefully September sometime. Ugh.
