  1. I've tried it with an expression pedal and it works! But its quite odd to use an expression pedal rather than a more standard style sustain pedal - takes some getting used to. But sustain pedals like Yamaha's FC3 (which comes with the CP series) are essentially a continuous controller, so I'm guessing this is what Mike was getting at? That said, I'm using the Casio triple pedal unit and haven't noticed anything too horrible going on. I first tried it with the Korg DS1H half damper (in the expression pedal jack) but that didn't work.

  3. It doesn't work on mine either Ok... just looked at the manual and it appears how your board (and mine) is operating is in fact correct! This basically toggles the speakers on/off when headphones are connected! So basically, you'll either have to plug in a set of headphones (or just get a male headphone plug without any wires connected to it) in order to shut it off. Here's the exact wording from the manual: SPEAKER OUT: Controls whether or not sound is output from the speakers when something is plugged into either of the PHONES jacks. Sound is not output when this setting is disabled (default), and output when it is enabled.
  4. Did you figure that out all on your own, or did you get that from the signature on my posts?
  5. I never said that... that was Randelph that you were quoting! I would describe it as "tighter". No, it doesn't hold a candle to a Kawai MP11 or VPC1 (nothing does IMO, but its not $2k-$3k either), but its now a serious contender among all the major players! This is one of the best actions I've tried in this price range. It would actually be perfect if it weren't for the slightly more pressure required when playing close to the fallboard. You tend to notice that when you're looking/testing, but once you start playing it just works. If you watched my video where I played that Queen song, you'll see that I have absolutely no problem with it in any passage of that song (you can especially see it when the camera is switched to the closeup of playing the keys).
  6. So I just got the PX-S1000 and tried it out... and its nothing short of amazing in just about every respect! As Casio has been saying, everything about it is new: new case/chassis, new key action, new samples, new sound chip, new user interface, etc. Two things in particular that I like are the key action, and the deep, rich sound in the lower register of the piano samples. So I did a video where I played Queen's "Somebody To Love" to demonstrate what the sound is like: I'll do a full review after becoming 100% familiarized with the board.
  7. Just put up a review: PianoTeq 6.4 + Bechstein DG + Revoiced Steinway
  8. Here's a video that captured the built-in factory demo samples of the Numa Compact 2X: Check the description - you can jump to whatever sample in the video you wish. Enjoy!
  9. Its nice. Its the same sound engine as in all Dexibell boards so nothing new there. It has motorized sliders that can be used for organ and other controls - and - some of their knobs have LED segments on them to show what knob position the knobs are at! This is the first time I've seen a board incorporate both of these features together (Nord has those segment-displayed knobs on some of their boards, and Behringer had a controller with motorized faders). Didn't get to play one as the only one hooked up was being demo'd by Dexibell. The keys are supposed to be of better quality than the others in the Vivo line because they "wanted something that was better matched the quality of their sounds". Its not the Fatar TP40/wood, but something new (I assume its still Fatar though but don't quote me).
  10. "Are you married"? Yes. "Are you going home to your wife afterward"?
  11. Actually, all Dexibell products have 3gb of storage: 1.4gb in factory-supplied samples, 100mb user area, and an additional 1.5gb of memory that was dormant until their newest OS ver 4 release (AquaViva). I'll be releasing a video on that shortly.
  12. Thanks xKnuckles! That 4th one was my favorite too, but only because it appealed to me the most and had the most clarity. Your description of why it was your favorite helped me understand more about that particular shot, so thank you for that!
  13. Done! Thanks.... I should have thought of that.
  14. I'm still very new at this... but I shot this spider web in a fireplace that I thought looked really cool! I know its a music forum, but some critiques would be welcome! I had a very limited window in which the sun was shining on this through a small window in the front door, and it was rapidly disappearing... so this was shot in auto mode as I didn't have the seconds to spare to fiddle with manual settings. Camera used was a Nikon D5300, 18-55mm kit lens. 16 pics were taken, these are the first 6. http://www.revchuck.com/image/Web1.JPG http://www.revchuck.com/image/Web2.JPG http://www.revchuck.com/image/Web3.JPG http://www.revchuck.com/image/Web4.JPG http://www.revchuck.com/image/Web5.JPG http://www.revchuck.com/image/Web6.JPG
  15. A couple problems: 1) Not quite accurate in a few places 2) This isn't what the OP is asking for anyway. The OP wants the long jazzy solo piano intro BEFORE this part. Harmonizer posted that part here: Ahhhh.... now I know what you're talking about... its that piano solo (that most people never heard) that precedes the horns, right? I think I've only heard that portion once or twice in the past. In that case, disregard my link (which was my rendition of the main song... not what you were looking for).
  16. Nice shot, Mike!!! I *just* started getting into photography myself (Nikon D5300) and am now in the "learning phase". Already have 2 lenses (standard 18-55mm kit lens and 55-200mm lens) and having a blast.... but still have a ton of learning before I can take a photo of that quality!
