  1. Yep. I shoot and edit a weekly TV show. My co-editor and I just got new Puget Systems computers built specifically for Adobe Premiere and After Effects. They kick the ass of any other computer in our whole company. Our 2013-era Mac Pro machines were good and stable. These new Puget machines render about 5 times faster. Also, I will never use anything other than Premiere Pro again. Final Cut, Avid, and Vegas can go suck a railroad spike.
  2. Allan, I still use the P50m that I bought from you in my live rig. I layer it with the K-Sounds Kawai samples in my Triton. I have actually gotten compliments on my live piano tone. The P50m provides the right amount of 'cut', and the Kawai samples provide the authenticity.
  3. Sometimes I miss my Yamaha CP33. I always thought it had the perfect balance of 'cutting through the mix' and authenticity (for live gigs).
  4. I"m SUPER excited for the Mojo Desktop. I no longer want to bring my (10-year-old Windows 7 laptop) to gigs. I absolutely love VB3-II. Well I was planning on buying the Mojo Desktop as soon as it was available, but with the uncertainty of everything in the world right now, my wife and I are not doing any extra spending. Also, regarding a midi drawbar controller, I have had pretty good luck with the iControls unit (programming it seemed a little clunky) https://www.adorama.com/idicontrolsb.html I had never heard of that StudioLogic SL Mixface. Looks nicer than my iControls.
  5. Congrats on the Wurly! It"s been a few years since I sold my last one... but IIRC, 200"s have the speakers mounted to the amp rail, and 200A"s have the speakers mounted to the 'lid', or the speaker grille. Edit: Oops, I just saw where you confirmed it was a 200.
  6. Speaking of build quality... does that Kurz model suffer from the broken key weights that the PC88 was (in)famous for?
  7. For me, I like vinyl just for the "tangibility", if you will. It's not even a nostalgia thing for me, as I grew up mostly with cassettes and CD's. I like flipping through records at the store. I like placing a record on the turntable, hearing the "thump" of the needle dropping, and just sitting and listening, while I look at the album cover and credits and lyrics. Also, the technology of it fascinates me.
  8. I just got one of these tonight as an early b-day gift from my wife. A nice upgrade from my $50 Radio Shack clearance special that I've been using for about 8 years. http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/resource_library/product_images/dac928a97d84c30f/med/at_lp120_usb_1_sq.jpg
  9. My parents still have theirs. It's a Lear (or Learjet?) console from the mid 70's.
  10. Dan, once you get it set, does it stay pretty solid, or does it fluctuate at all?
  11. BTW, right now I'm using a lower-end belt-driven model that I got at Radio Shack about 8 years ago; I think the original price was $100. It seems to play records slightly fast, although the overall sound quality is fine. So, really, I'm looking for a more speed-accurate model, although I know that can be affected by other factors, too (fluctuating AC power? )
  12. I was contemplating that one... it seems that the tonearm does not return when the record is done; is that true?
  13. Belt drive vs. direct drive... which do you prefer, and why?
  14. Nice stuff, Ken. Man, how I miss photograpy. I used to shoot a lot of B+W film about 15 years ago. Tri-X was my favorite. I pretty much stopped doing photography when digital took over, which was the same time music became my main hobby. I loved doing long-exposure shots at night as well.
  15. I haven't listened to much music lately. Kinda tired of everything. In the car, I generally either listen to talk radio or nothing at all. I used to spend hours sitting and listening to music at home. (Of course, I was single then, had a lot more free time). I used to love Radio Paradise. Listened to it all day every day at work, when I had a coworker who shared similar musical taste. Some people can't "handle" it. I know that sounds arrogant, but for some people, if it ain't overplayed classic rock, it sucks. I loved Radio Paradise; I have heard and purchased so much different music because of that station. Now, at work, when my current coworker leaves for the day, and I get to shut off the classic rock, the silence is nice. I can still hear a little of the "house" music from the other room. The ceiling speaker in my office has a volume dial, so I keep it turned off. Man, this is sounding really depressing. Sorry to be a downer. I'm just kinda tired of music right now.
  16. I'm going crazy. I've been browsing the forum on and off all day, and every time I thought I had this song out of my head, I see the "Superstition" thread and the damn horn part starts playing in my head; over and over and over. That f**kin' horn part is pissing me off.
  17. Yeah, there's been one sitting on the salesfloor of one of our local music stores since they came out. I just noticed yesterday they marked it down to $1799. I noodled around with it for about a minute again yesterday and I thought to myself, "Yep, still sucks."
  18. That's been out for a while, and it's a POS. IMHO, of course.
  19. Provided it has the "nothing worth stealing" paint job with some straw and bit of garden hose hanging out the back. Some friends of ours who play in another band have their big old name/logo on their trailer. Every time I see it, I think, "Man, that's dumb." They might as well put "Come steal our stuff" on it.
  20. You want to rack-mount one of these? http://www.hammond-organ.com/Products/images_directory/Xk-2w.jpg Do you mean an XM-2?
