  1. get a Grandstage. Better durability, nousing, interface, etc
  2. I DO want to try one..... emphasis on 'try'. After seeing the construction on the Boddy, I have high hopes. Didn"t care for the Boog, but I"m willing to give this a shot, although, as an old MiniMoog head, I felt disconcerted when, upon watching the SonicState vid, Nick lifted up that skinny azz panel and my thought bubble was ' I hope it doesn"t sound as thin as that panel'. I"m just used to that thick Mini Chassis! LOL!
  3. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting what you are writing but Diversi still appears to be handling these products, they sit front and center on the Diversi website: https://www.diversi.us/ Or are you saying that Tom doesn't comment any longer on this forum? Perhaps I'm misinterpreting what you are writing but Diversi still appears to be handling these products, they sit front and center on the Diversi website: https://www.diversi.us/ Or are you saying that Tom doesn't comment any longer on this forum? Dave, here is the quote from Max"s earlier post here: ' Tom Tuson of Diversi decided to move to the warm AZ and slowed down a bit his activities, so we agreed that the sales will be carried on directly from Prague (CZ) as BTW happened most of the times anyway for several reasons. He will, of course, keep offering local support and service for MAG products. So the Maggie will be sold directly from CZ with the usual "well-oiled" procedure. ' Hence, my questions to Max
  4. Hi Max! Thanks from your presence on this Forum! Since Tom is no longer handling new Diversi/MAG product, will the US destination units have US voltage and power connections? Thanks for a fantastic instrument!
  5. Darren, your last sentence should be burned in all of our memories! FYI, MAG organs are available with a Diversi rebranding in the US through Diversi Organs based close to Philly.
  6. At least similar, if not identical. All are characterized as GHS actions. it s SIMILAR to the P-45. I say 'similar' because the housing of the two instruments are different. This is why I returned the MODX8 even though I loved the engine!
  7. Agreed, Al and Dave! Don"t forget Tommy and Kenny Barron!
  8. First Mabes then Richard Wyands now Larry.... too, too too much my heart is breaking the loss of 3 piano titans and stellar humans.... just unbearable
  9. Prof Mabes was a gentle, big-hearted force of nature and guiding light to all here in NYC. His greeting to all musicians here was 'What are you working on'? Followed by inquiries on significant others and family. This one really hurts!
  10. Nice post, Cowboy! Yup, it"s you, not the gear. The gear can make it EASIER, but that"s about it. We all have PREFERENCES, but beyond that, they are all just hammers and nails.
  11. Thank YOU, Jason. we must be thinking of the same ones, lol! You're welcome, I"m sure!
  12. Not exactly keyboard-centric, but you get the point: https://www.jazzadvice.com/why-your-search-for-the-perfect-equipment-is-not-making-you-a-better-musician/ and also this: https://www.jazzadvice.com/you-are-your-own-instrument/
  13. Sorry, but I don't. FKJ didn't do anything except play piano some very nonsensical piano for 20 minutes. It was people other than who decided to frame it as "jazz." Your "jazz" dispute is with those other people, most of whom are just expressing themselves in YouTube comments, which I think we can all agree is about the lowest common denominator of written expression available today. I'll try to restate my main point with a few less words. One of the oldest and most well-known music festivals in the world promoted a video of what sounds like "the 'jazz piano' equivalent of the acoustic guitar douche playing in the quad at college" (not my quote but I had to steal it!). The commenters also don't matter â they're just the icing on the cake. It's not the apocalypse, it's just sad. What Reezekeys said!
  14. Nope. Sorry. If all there was to Jazz was Improvisation, then Mozart cadenzas and the free notated preludes of the French Clavecinists would be jazz. Jazz, for the record is an African-American folkloric music based in blues, gospel and American dance and song forms. A fusion of African rhythmic sensibility and European harmony.
  15. Nope. Just. Nope. This kind of s***t gets me tight. It just shows how far standards have dropped that FKJ is marketed as 'jazz'. And then, people who DONT know this music associate THIS stuff with 'jazz' It"s the Kenny G syndrome all over! For the record, there"s people out there who adeptly and convincingly mix many different styles, but his solo piano doesn't fall in that category. I"m with reezekeys and jeerythek on this one! To play a particular genre of music (no matter what it happens to be) one has to learn the grammar and syntax of the genre in question. Anyone who has really studied the music called 'jazz' can hear he hasn't put that kind of time in. his other stuff is ok and he"s a talented guy, but, sorry. Stay in your lane, dude! Btw I love the shred videos and the Groiner episodes! ;-)
  16. good stuff, Jim, I always enjoy your presentations! very intelligent solutions to re-creating these parts!
  17. IMO, the Wurlies on the Yamaha are top notch. Having played live and recorded with140s,145s, 112s and 200s, I can authoritatively say Yamaha KILLS Nord. And I"ve toured and backlined EVERY Nord Electro and Stage since the first iterations of both. Nord has a 'hard stop' on ALL their EP samples that make for a less organic experience than Yamaha. I"ve also backlined all the Motifs, S90, Montage and just about every Korg too. Korgs are next best EPs after Yamaha. Being more than 30 days in on a CP88, I still find it to be the most satisfying emulator I have played thus far. I haven't ever had a less than inspirational or 'want to keep playing' feeling on this board, and isn't that what we all strive for?? My only issue is that I have to have hernia surgery in 2 weeks and wont be able to schlep the CP out for a good long while so Im considering a VC 73 as a backup gigging keyboard for EPs in the meantime!
  18. is this what you are after, James? https://meeblip.com/products/cubit
  19. Denied. also deniedâ- i own an 88 but i put the 73 thru multiple tests with various jazz and classical examples at multiple dynamics and velocity... SW poster dude just doesn't have thoroughness or good technique or both..... beware always of overly negative un-specific reviews-or overly positive un-specific reviews as well!
  20. just checked Elmer, its the old OS, the new update is Sept.... can"t wait!
  21. See recordings of George Duke, Patrick Moraz, Tom Coster, Herbie Hancock, not to mention the Cars and Ultravox. NO other synth can ACCURATELY reproduce those sounds and textures. I wasn"t happy about their Model D when Moog still had the Model D reissue available, plus I thought the quality was subpar. And my intuition is borne out by this quote from Matthew Higdon at MLaw: 'If Moog were to approach me I would say they may well have a case in passing off because it"s their reputation that is still existent. Behringer are effectively leveraging Moog"s reputation to promote their own products. It"s not quite as clear cut as Behringer are setting it out, and I think that it"s probably Behringer"s size that would intimidate the opposition, not the strength of their case.' But the reports on the Oddy so far are good. Normally, I would agree, but I am curious about this one I didn"t know about DSI, Jim.
