  1. Can someone help me please by posting the procedure for loading sysex data into my Korg M3R? Since joining the FB vintage synth group, I"m back to messing with my old stuff, and I have a data collection of all of the expansion cards that were produced. I used to do it, but can"t remember the procedure, and I have the manuals and I"m using Midi-ox, which I use daily for other gear, but I can"t get past ' 4A MIDI DUMP' screen. Memory protection is "off". Thanks in advance. This stuff does keep you young.
  2. I bought a Kawai ES-110 for my music room to replace a Kawai MP5, which went to another music room, to replace an ancient Studiologic SL-880. I bought it based on the several favorable reviews and my history with Kawai. I wanted a simple piano with a good action to play Pianoteq and Lounge Lizard. The unit is light and feels "plasticky", but once I settled it onto it's stand and began playing, it began to feel great. The action is smooth as butter, and a joy to play. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase. The pianos are up to Kawai standards, and the rest don't really matter, given my reason for purchasing. I haven't tried the bluetooth yet.
  3. Just purchased a Kurzweil SP1 for $599 at GC. I need a new rehearsal room keyboard. I think it's a great deal.
  4. I saw him play at Carrollton Georgia a couple of years ago in an open restaurant patio setting. It was indeed killer. I FB broadcast about the first 30 minutes till the phone died. It was a great high energy set of his music. Afterward, I chatted with him and I got to play his Hammond. He loaded me up with merch, including 2 CDs, and and I became his fan for life. He talked about a Dixie Chicks concert movie that was pending, but I haven't seen that yet. A memorable evening.
  5. The difference between excellence and mediocrity is that the excellent have a concept of excellence, and the drive and talent to achieve it, and will accept nothing less. The mediocre are those who don't do or have that. Thus it is written.
  6. To any interested https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/msg/d/union-city-full-sound-hammond-organ/7153953587.html
  7. I saw an ad that he was appearing at a small church in Atlanta. Knowing him through the Gaither Homecoming series, I made sure I attended. He was solo with a Yamaha Motif XS8, and he played and sang and conducted a worship service. His playing was phenomenal. Afterward, he was at the door meeting people and selling records. I got to talk with him at some length, and I asked him about his piano style. He didn't have a lot of theory behind it, just playing his music as it had evolved over the years. He was most gracious, genuine, and humble. I would love to take lessons from him.
  8. Not cheap, but solidly made. https://btpa.com/
  9. Well, that's no light read. I was hoping for an abstract. I saved it and will attempt to digest it further.
  10. Several years I decided to develop my left hand, and I purchased a Dr John lesson package from Homespun Audio. New Orleans piano makes such use of the left hand, and that really developed my left hand independence and facility. I grew up playing Gospel piano, so it wasn't a new experience to make greater use of the left hand. Each hand plays a separate rhythmic part, so it develops hand independence. Playing Hanon book 3 everyday develops overall strength and facility.
  11. This might be helpful: If you have Win10 on your current unit, you can install your old SSD in the new system and it will configure itself to the new mb. This was not the case prior to Win10. I read about it and tried it, and it works. Standard disclaimer: back up essential files.
  12. I have several ep apps, to me this is the cream of the crop. It feels and sounds more natural and organic then the rest. They"re all excellent, yet I can"t tear myself away from this one. I"m a preset player who makes minor edits, so I can"t comment on the deep dive editing that others will do. Playing from my iPad Pro through a Korg plug key on my Studiologic SL-990 in my rehearsal room, I may miss Thanksgiving.
  13. First note of the solo is on the "and" of one.
  14. I just discovered this guy and he has lots of great keyboard focused videos on Youtube. I've never seen him mentioned here. Kind of a Russian Cory Henry.
  15. Korg Plug $85 Korg Module for iPad currently $40 but can be found on sale. Apple camera adapter, $30 Midi cable $4. Combine these with your iPad and you have a very usable and infinitely expandable solution. There are plenty of other apps that are cheaper than the Korg module as well.
  16. Can I still get an RMA?
  17. The "Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Classic Albums)" documentary on Amazon Prime told me everything I want to know about Elton and nothing that I don't. I'm not a fan of Hollywood hagiography. GBYBR was, for me, his magnum opus. After that, not so much.
  18. I have duplicate power supplies, cables, and pedals so that my home stuff stays at home and my gig stuff stays packed up between gigs. I use bungies for cable management to prevent droopage and danglies.
