  1. Cheek 2 Cheek, Paper Moon...Tierney Sutton..excellente group. Also, Dani Gurgle..Brazilian vocaleesta, her sister is the pianist and arrgr. Very nice. Also Elaine Elias, her new brazilian stuff is nice... Also now, after the AM news, Im going to pull out some Jazz Crusaders/Crusaders.
  2. Stopped at a friends yesterday, he had Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer lp on. Havent heard that in ages. Off topic a bit, he turned me on to Grooveshark. Just type in artists name and u can build a songlist of available tunes. Listen free. Does well as I tried to stump it by putting in Kenny Kirklands name and it listed about 10 tunes. Herbies list goes n goes, so I thought that it worked well.
  3. Doesnt the Integra carry the same SN piano's as the RD? I think it does, but If I would consider the 8, or any Roland, Id have to have the SN piano's. Ive liked the RD series, Im simply at a point where I cant carry them anymore.
  4. From what I can tell, there's only one pre-loaded set of samples mapped to the pads. Though you can easily create your own. There are several pianos (and other instruments) labeled as Supernatural. To me, they sound the same as the Supernatural Pianos in the JP80/50. So far Ive read that the 08 includes SN synths. Not sure if that equates to the SN piano set. Ive read these are called subsets. Actually, if Roland took all of the synth stuff, pads n such out, put in just the SN pianos/rhodes, they could call it the RD 400 n Id go for it. N Id be able to carry it.
  5. Thx for the reply Bob, I played it thru 2 small rolands, so the overall tone was not representative. This is the 1st Roland action Ive liked in quite a while. I couldnt get a straight answer from the salesperson or from the Roland website stating that the piano tones in this box are indeed the SN piano set.
  6. I got to try the fa08, really liked the action, but the shop could not tell me if it has the SuperNATURAL piano sounds in it. Judging by what I heard, these were not the SN piano's. Does anyone know what Roland boards including the Integra, do carry the SN piano set? I cant seem to get a clear answer from anyone on this, thx.
  7. A friend of mine still has his MicroMoog..member those? Fat little bugger. When I had the ODy/lil brother, I also got the...tadaa, Arp String ensemble. Was amazing the stuff I used to carry around in those days. Needed a van. Now I go with a hatchback
  8. My 1st synth!! When I got this, they gave u the Arp Little Brother free..I did sell it when I got the Mini. N my friends grey face always sounded fatter than the black.
  9. Tete Montilou, killer pianist from Spain, lots of recordings out, especially nice solo work on Italian label Soulnote think its called.
  10. I bought a Stukture Aluminium stand..you know, the ones that dont actually go low enough to sit n play? I was actually able to drill a hole in it without blowing the thing up. Perfect sitting height n a joy to carry around.
  11. Its more fun to be in a comedy..that way at least, you can still laugh at yourself...
  12. lol..Remember...no matter where ya go..there ya are.
  13. While looking yesterday in a local GC for the CP4 to try, they didnt have 1, but, there was a used cp5. I sold mine a year ago due to weight issues...the piano, not me...After playing 4 a few, I was reminded of just how good the 5 is, and how much I miss it. Im going to look up the 4's specs, see just how heavy the thing is. After all of the glowing reviews here, I have to try one. DP,s...the search never seems to end.
  14. A few Tierney Sutton lp's. Excellent trio platform for her vox. The trio is smokin, the pianist is exc and they do some of the best arrgmts of some of the most overplayed tunes on anyones set list. Very refreshing.
  15. I sense it's part of Yamaha's brand strategy that their digital pianos are an integral part of the overall piano range, from big acoustics down. Adding the Bosendorfer name into that might arguably confuse the picture and perhaps in some eyes potentially dilute and cheapen the Bosie brand. I played the Yamaha C3X a few months ago and it sounded nothing like the previous C3s I have played... dare I say more Bosendorfer in some ways? Agree. I've played quite a few of the CXs now, from the small 6'ers to the medium 7' up to the concert 9', and they don't have the typical C series, Yamaha character (not that there's anything wrong with a well voiced C7/6/5/3 ) . The CXs are much closer to a European sound. Yeah Adino, the CP4, in my short time with it, was very happening. Played and sounded very good. No need to worry about build quality either. Thanks Dave..appt it.
  16. Has anyone actually played this yet? Sounds interesting. Thing is, the CP boards Ive owned had great action, but the mox8 I recently sold had action done in China and was so unpianolike that it had to go. Not enjoyable at all. I would be wondering about whats up w/the 4's action. 38lbs, what Ive read, is on the border.
  17. I got a compliment on my driving today.. I was downtown to do some shopping.. When I came out there was a note on my car that said parking fine...so I thought that was nice.
  18. And I thought I had gigs that were a doozie...lol.. glad u r ok man.. I will bet that you would have been a tad more in shock if the GX had fallen in the water..lol...Merry Christmas 8)
  19. The mai tai got its name when 2 polynesian alcoholics got in a fight over some neckwear...
  20. When primitive people practice the rain dance, does it rain at the end of practice?? And if it doesn't, how do they know they did the dance correctly??
  21. LITTLE GIRL ON A PLANE A stranger was seated next to a little girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.' The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, 'What would you like to talk about?' 'Oh, I don't know,' said the stranger. 'How about nuclear power?' and he smiles. 'OK,' she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass - . Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?' The stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, 'Hmmm, I have no idea.' To which the little girl replies, 'Do you really feel qualified to discuss nuclear power when you don't know shit?
  22. Nice place here, some interesting stuff. Ive been messing w/Codes of the Underground a bit, found that u could get the charts for that LP and a number of Wyntons lp's at his site, wynton marsalis.org I think it is..theyre pdf format, that lp's charts cost 20$ apiece or 80$ for all of them..it states that all of the parts are written... dont know if its been mentioned here, so scuse if it has.. Anyone here dload any of these? If so, whats your take on them? Im tempted..
