    I don't understand how anyone can be fascinated about AI for more than 5 minutes. OK, it is cool that it will help in a few domains like medical science because using brute force it can sort out a myriad of studies about a medical problem faster than humans to try to help a doctor and his/her patient.

     

    But for creativity, music, art, even creating pics, it is useless, lifeless and stupid and will remain so. And given the usual dreadful aspects of human nature, it is and will be used mostly in bad ways, like how to cheat your bachelor/master degree and much worse. See X-Files Rm9sbG93ZXJz (Season 11, Episode 7), ExMachina movie, etc.

    Sweetwater might accept to deliver to Canada, but you will be charged transport accordingly and as anything going USA to Canada your item will go through customs and it is always possible to end up with extra fees - sometimes very expensive. I personally had a very bad experience about 10 years ago and promised myself to never import again from the USA unless the seller confirms on paper he pays for all possible customs and duties extra fees.

     

    Buying Kurzweil products in Canada has always been complicated. In the 1990s a few stores in the province kept a couple of them, but if you wanted something they didn't have you had to order sight unseen and wait months to get your purchase. That is how I bought my MIDIboard, K1200 and finally, around 2000, a PC2X. I hated the Fatar action on the PC2X from day one and swore to never buy a keyboard sight unseen ever again.

    I mostly use high quality headphones for practice and recording for maximum presence and optimal frequency response, but those new Pebble Xs with subwoofer are just fine for final mixes with a DAW or listening to anything on the computer, from techno to classical. The X Plus 2.1 system offers a 45–20,000 Hz response and I can confirm the tiny subwoofer sure moves dust away from the desk when I listen to Moog Taurus pedals.  :roll:

     

    The great guy below compares the different versions of Pebbles. And he is right that the latest generation is definitely quite a notch above the previous ones. I didn't like they are USB powered, but Creative gives a 67 W charger / power supply for free with the purchase.  :wave:

    The problem with grand pianos is that they are as fragile as they are heavy. You need experience to master the technique to put one on its side safely without destroying it before removing the legs. And there are many other things that must be correctly done as well. One example is, either the action hammers/keys must be secured carefully before the move, either the whole action does NOT stay in the grand during transport. This little mistake alone can cost thousands of dollars in repairs.

     

    So again, pro movers is a must. When I bought my brand new grand in 2012, the moving was 400 $, which is peanuts compared to the cost of the instrument. The guys were real pros, only two Arnold-shaped fellows to carry this 850 lbs thing, that was very impressive.

    Looks like something very hot melting/scraping the plastic as it slowly moves. Could be a forgotten soldering iron on the keys while you repaired some wires, or you forgot your keyboard in the sun under a magnifying glass, or you recently played a tribute to Pink Floyd in Pompeii and didn't notice the Vesuvia shown warning signs of an impending eruption. In this latter case, you should call Italian authorities ASAP.

    Having fun with MIDItrail

    Maybe many already know the thing, but just wanted to share this little discovery. I'm having fun since a couple of days with this little MIDItrail free app. It's great to visualize what is played in MIDI files and you can change the view to a single keyboard or also to 16 keyboards as on a gigantic pipe organ like on the pic and change to any angle in real time if you want to zoom in or out on a MIDI channel/keyboard, etc.  :wave:

    Yep, sold my M400S for that reason some decades ago. The tapes would slowly but surely sound more and more "metallic" from magnetization and wear, so since back then (around 1988) Mellotrons stopped being produced, I though I better get rid of it as it became impossible to get new tapes. Funnily, that is the only instrument I could sell for the same price I paid, as it was still extremely looked after. I also had the fancy Mellotron cushioned cover in black leather that protected the whole instrument for transport.

    Even though saddened, Lake said something like he wasn't extremely surprised when it happened, as he knew Emerson lived a very isolated life since years, on top of his medical and personal problems. Suicide is a permanent "solution" to a temporary problem and here again even despite his dexterity problems he could have continued to work as composer of film scores, advisor at synth companies and so much more. Also, many said he was an emotional person and in the last years was reading the horrible social media crap about him. It is very sad that this complete crap influenced him negatively to the point of forgetting about the positive and talents he still had.

     

    Now, on a more general level, artists often have a much more emotional and sensitive nature than most. Same with people with high IQ or who were born with a "tree-based thinking OS" brain as I call it (believe me, it is not fun). So very sensitive/emotional people can be affected a lot more than most with the difficult aspects of life.
