  1. Sorry to jack this thread but IMHO it"s for a noble cause: to the op, I recall having recently read a post somewhere where there was a mention that you (of all people) do not have a Hammond console. Any interest in a maybe free A100?
  2. Me again. And Speaking of chops I did one waay back in the seventies where I separated the generators(yes there were two in this beast) from the console and mounted the 'console' directly to a set of ROKS by way of a couple of 1x1 beams Much more to tell but it"s getting noisey here.
  3. If there was ever a relevant necrothread it would be this one. Yay! I recently inherited an abandoned M chop project that needed rescue. Bear in mind that it"s not a '3' so it has a reduced value to begin with. It might sound a little irreverent but due to space limitations I had to gut the whole thing and dump the guts into a large yard trash can. Even without any of the cabinetry the trash can is too heavy to lift. But I"ve got every single part and just came across a 'free '3' that might need a few parts itself. But no chops happening here.
  4. Two things here that I must respond to. Firstly, I owe you an apology for not posting a warning as regards the Roll or Kari's and A100's. Yes they have to be extra tight at the bottom or they will slip out at the worst moment. It happened to me once and almost ended in disaster. And, yeah I have a pair of Gauss 15's that were intended for "most beef" on two Leslies but they got fried at a sound gig where the power was bad and poof! No more Gausses. Everything happens for a reason I guess. Congrats!!
  5. Funny how the Impulse was billed as a 'semi-weighted' keyboard. Doesn"t feel weighted at all to me and anyone expecting a piano feel would be justifiably upset. IMHO it"s synth action. On the midi side of things I see where the op is going but I can"t help right now because of a very nearby lightning strike that took out my usb/midi interface. Midi thru would be handy if it works especially if outbound on usb. (Until the lightning strike I had faux Hammond pedals on midi channel 3.) Your question here may actually lead me to a workaround while my 'hub' is out for repairs. (Bass pedals set to ch.3 into Yamaha P slab, slab ch.2 into Impulse, all of it into B-3X, maybe.)
  6. In my younger years I did a fair bit of gigging with a Hammond M3 and "upgraded" from that to a Hammond BV something or the other and luckily spared of most of the horrors described here. Very lucky I guess. (Hammonds on fire escapes?? Never in any lifetime! That is the thing of true nightmares.) But more recently the band I was working with was called upon to do a wedding gig. In 90 degree weather, just as we arrived a bit late and in a rush a massive thunderstorm hit and we had to schlep gear inside through horizontal rain. And then tried to make a good impression while still soaking wet. The comedic value was pretty good though because we were soaked to the bone but quickly set up and managed to hit on time. Gear was fine. God bless the cases(and no Hammond). Does anybody make keyboard player cases?
  7. Ah yes, the madness never ceases. I"ve taken a slight interest in the now failing Apple HomePod speakers. Incredible and slightly Lesliesque tech behavior going on in there but I might have to flip one upside down so that the sub fires downwards and the 'horns' fire from the top. The tweeters are in an array that might be hackable to facilitate actual 'spin' with no moving parts. They also 'listen' to the room so could make for some big Doppler fun with custom room tunings. Fall prices fall and once out of fashion the used market will be tossing them out...I hope.
  8. What a fantastic find! You sir are to be commended for such a great rescue. I fell in love with A100"s a few years ago when a local church asked me to fix theirs. What I discovered was a single owner Hammond that was covered but hadn"t been touched in maybe 20 years. So, I whipped out my trusty Hammond oil, oiled it up, and told the church that they"d have to wait a few weeks for the oil to settle in. Well, the board didn"t want to wait so they put it up for sale and I immediately bought it ($1000 tax deductible donation=free). Not expecting it to fire up right away I nonetheless started it as soon as I got it home and voila...it came right up. Not perfect but close enough. And then there"s A100 number two which I discovered on Craigslist for $100 (kids in a band that found it at a thrift store and never even plugged it up). A rescue for sure but also an unmolested great piece that the same church wanted to buy from me...pre-Covid 19. Now everything is at a standstill at the church so A100 number two might be available soon. I"ve also been told of another church that has a B3 and A PAIR of Leslies that they might want to get rid of. Murder she wrote. My wife is going to kill me dead, dead, dead. (When I"m dead she"ll find the free cherry M3 that I stashed in the garage.). Ok, a few scratches so not perfect. Dunno why the attachment manager rotated the pic 180 degrees. Sorry. Anyways, congratulations on a great find and rescue!
  9. Yeah, wow! First off, dude can play. Second, it"s a great day for keyboard players!! So much available, at way less cost and without the weight! That rig is actually large compared to the monster featherweight combo of Reface CP/iPad into the amazing Blackstar Fly 3 Combo. (Yes, too small for a 'show', but great for small gatherings and travel.) (Perspective? This from a guy that grew up regularly gigging with a Hammond M3 Leslie 122 rig. Too poor to afford any synths.)
  10. A treasure! Thanks for this! We were playing/attempting pre-Chester TOP covers (East Bay Grease) waaay back in the day and I was dying trying to work out with the horns. Then came Chester. What a divine match made in heaven! (Church...who woulda thunk?)
  11. Many thanks! Taking looks at all the above! (TouchOSC: Ouch!!)
  12. Do you mean something like using an iConnectAudio2+ and AirPlay to see your Mainstage on the iPad screen? Maybe I'm not understanding what you're getting at here... Yes, exactly that! And in my case an iconnectaudio4+. Bury the mini in the rack and control it with the ipad. No monitor, keyboard, or mouse. I took a look at Airplay but it appears to be more focused toward mirroring media playback instead of remote control. Still looking at it though. (I've had cluttered rigs before and sweet though they may be I will never gig with a laptop again. Too distracting from the keys. ipad seems just right IMHO.)
  13. Semi-early adopter here. I had an outdoor pop-up gig a few years back which required a decent jazz organ with almost no setup space. In the crunch I opted for the Garage Band organ...in my iphone via irig and it worked a charm. Graduating to ipad and with my new love for ios I am now on the search for the best headless mac-mini config so that I can run mainstage on the mini from an ipad along with all the other delicious ipad goodies (B3x, AUM, etc.). Keystage is close but not quite there yet IMHO. Any suggestions here for the best ipad/mac mini (NON-CATALINA) interface for musician purposes?
  14. I"m struggling with this very thing here. Producers coming at me with this 'remote jam session' idea. As soon as I say latency they all just glaze over and give me a blank stare. Then somebody says 'clicktrack'. Yes, but... Now, I"m the guy that wants to leave my rig at home and play the home hardware from anywhere with a minimal controller. Wack? Yes...but... I think we"re getting closer, with GPS and all so yeah, soon come, but spontaneity will likely suffer...at first. (some kinda mix-minus...everywhere?) Edit: I so love this board. Thanks for the Jamkazam tip!! On my way!
  15. There was a time when the Roman's thought that Corinthian columns were the height of technology and that technology could evolve no further. Many P-120 lovers fell into the same trap but fortunately time and tech still moves on. That said, I still have my trusty P-120 and I'm not a good enough player to complain. The Rhodes was great and is still usable, the build quality is still good and it will be a minute before I'll be able to afford a better slab. It works as a decent lower controller and it also serves as my bailout should the soft stuff fail on a gig. It's just always there. I have great stories about hung apps, blue screens of death, and bad power. That yammi held up through all of it. (And yes, I remember P-120 dude because I think that for some reason I pissed him off. Sorry.)
  16. Maestro Ring Modulator. Thanks Moe!! BTW: Spectrum is the name of the album. The song that I was referring to is called The Red Baron.
  17. At work right now so I can't post up examples, but no George Duke? There's a great story about how a Rhodes was put in front of him instead of a "real" piano and how in anger he decided to play it real hard out of spite and subsequently fell in love with "the Rhodes bark". And then there's Spectrum by Billy Cobham. Seminal Rhodes piece for me. (Would someone please tell me how that Rhodes solo was "bent"? Sounds nothing like pitch bend on faux Rhodes.)
  18. Nightmare thread! Wait, wait, wait a minute. I 'don"t really own my iPad'?? A simple mistaken update could wipe out all of my now hundreds of synths, piles of Rhodes, clones, and midi insanity...AU, AUV3? Everything? Can"t be true. Goodnight. What"s that noise....? (iOS 22.4.7 auto installing) Nightmare thread....leave me alone. Stop it!
  19. I picked it up yesterday. It"s in great shape cosmetically and is bone stock. Cute ancient wood paneling back cover removed to reveal the 12' speaker in a pillowcase along with a bindered shop manual. I gigged with a blond M3 in my teens and this sure brings back memories. Pretty pics soon come. (Deadlifted into the back of a pickup truck, straight into my garage...no steps at all.) EZ-PZ except for major argument with wife which I somehow survived. (Pretty brutal...she called me Fred Sanford.) (Also need to give it a good Leslie treatment. Probably the pair of horn modded 120"s...or the super Frankenstein 825/122, or maybe the 31h...or even better...the 900 down the street. I am Fred.)
  20. Rain delay. It almost happened today but the donor, even though she is giving away the M3, still cares about it enough that she won"t allow it to be moved in the threat of rain. And, she knows her Hammonds well. A new phenom for me as I"ve never met a woman that knew anything about the different models of Hammond organs.
  21. The donor just called back. My wife is going to kill me. Dead, dead, dead. (But somehow I"m still happy. Oy!)
  22. I just can't let it die. Way too much stuff here too but I just can't let it die. In my years I've rescued a few basic M's and found good homes for them. This ones a 3. So, I just contacted the donor. (Anybody here know how to stack Hammonds? Jeez!)
  23. Moderators...if this is in violation please forgive me and delete this. I just saw this on Craigslist and thought that someone here might have an interest. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/msg/d/vienna-hammond-m3-organ/7007906175.html
