  1. haha, hey. This is weird. I signed out an hour ago but it looks like I'm still staring in the window. Yikes. Where was I.
  2. Whoa!! hey LB. Awesome post. I was just looking around thinking I'm alone in my weirdness. So glad you dropped in. I haven't got a clue what you're saying but I feel the energy. That looks great linwood. I ran out of paper yesterday or I'd be playing it. SK, if I committed a faux pas there I didn't see it coming. Gee, Bernstein was no slouch. Anyway, I apologize.
  3. Just listened to an iTunes preview of "Invitation" (I don't know the song)... "Out of the blue, suddenly YOU.." That's it. Seriously, you don't need to rerecord anything, that was great. Really reminds me of a scene from West Side Story or something along that line.. LB, funny story.. downloaded your first tune, hit play, and for some reason it triggered SK's "Not another who can I turn to" at the same time. I didn't clue in right away and let me tell you, what a vibe! Complex and mysterious. I was quite blown away. (I like your solo work too. )
  4. lol, exactly. Come on SK, the reharm of the century. Make it meaningful.
  5. Great segue into Mr Sandman. Somebody shoot me!
  6. Hey SK, you let me down. I was hoping for the nightmare effect. "Day and night, night and day, there's no escape." Well, it's got those lyrics that make you wanna run (if you don't mind me saying ) Wow, great job. You too, Floyd. I'd be lucky to get through it the way it's written.
  7. SK - you blow me away. Hard to put into words. Yeah, you flow. That upwards happy rush, the time you take to look around, so many different plateaus... well, it wasn't boring, or academic. Cool intro. Great ending. Man. This thread is wreaking havoc with my sleep patterns. Mojazz - One for the girls. That was real honky. Fun.
  8. Hey I liked that. For all the trouble I'd personally have trying to name those chords, you kept it sweet and simple sounding. I might have preferred the smile of a straight F to finish it off, otherwise it sounds a bit contrived, almost like we're not getting the whole story.
  9. haha, keep trying. I'll let you know.
  10. I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. I was kidding, SK. I know you're not insolent... as a rule. JOKE. And thanks, but I don't sing either. No joke.
  11. I'm dying over here. HAHAHAHA Carlo you're my hero. Anybody who can make me look dumber than I already do deserves some kind of prize. The ears on you! Your timing is priceless. SK, feelin' a little pressure?
  12. I take that back! Wasn't so hard after all; all it took was a little help from some helium. The Way You Look Tonight Please forgive me Carlo!
  13. You know, it's a really whacked out arrangement to try and sing along with. The intro feels safe enough, you sly dog you. Best left as a piano solo. Lots of fun.
  14. Academic and uninteresting.. she looked that bad, huh? That's what I call a serious stretch. Just kidding, SK. Sorry I can't help disrupting the flow here. Arrghhh. I'll try to be good and stay off this thread, and then maybe you'll post it. Thanks.
  15. hah. Well wouldn't it have been nice to hear your enthusiasm for spreading the word maybe just a post or two earlier than the link to your own reharm. You could say my "weather vain" is up. Not sure why that is! Musicians are weird, if I may be so bold as to include myself in that category. go in peace (nice of you to say hi to Ed. There's that word again. )
  16. Now that was nasty! That article is written by a long-standing, friendly, funny and wise member of this forum. You watch what you say. And if you don't, know that I will. winkwinkwink Man, can we LEAVE KEYBOARD MAGAZINE TO THEIR OWN DISCRETION. thanks next
  17. I don't see it anywhere. Please?
  18. That was so nice! What a dumb word, NICE. But it was. Warm touch. It's very cool to see you here.
  19. post deleted. Better judgement prevails.
  20. I don't understand what that means. Come again? haha, what part don't you get? I'm not usually the only one in church. Attendance is bad, but not that bad. Oh. Ok, I don't "reharmonize", I improvise. In fact, the activity was unknown to me pre-forum.
  21. I do reharmonize hymns all the time - I view the hymn book as an outline. Beautiful in it's simplicity for one reflective verse maybe. It becomes an issue when there are note readers who don't listen beyond their own voice. I've tried scoring and get bogged down with too much time and too many choices. This I suppose is directly related to the idea of what makes a jazz pianist. I'm almost afraid to have the "secret unveiled"... it's a beautiful thing to hear a trio seemingly think with one mind. Appreciate your response.
  22. Nice posture on that guy. Wonder if he'd pass the fly-away wrist test. Hey Floyd! I thought that was an interesting question you posed to SK: "I'm curious about your creative process - is some of that free-improvised in the moment, and some is charted? How much of each?" If we could stay on topic and keep the dialogue going.. What's your process? I've always considered reharmonization to be synonymous with improvisation; committing to paper more of a compositional effort. Can You Tell I'm Confused. I like the idea of no particular destination.
