  1. Now that's funny. Go Johnny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2iv_E-Fn9E&feature=related Imagine those "ladies in pink" adding their vocal stylings to your arrangement, Hardway. The first sign of a real reharm. Enjoyed that.
  2. New to me: pdf collections of original, public domain scores for piano, violin, voice etc. http://www.cdsheetmusic.com/products/products.cfm hey, I just printed off a violin sonata. Very clear, easy to read. I can recommend the format without reservation. Some great deals if you're interested in owning a legit, massive private library. Check it out.
  3. If I could make a broad statement, jazz players suck at click tracks. You need to switch to the country channel to hear it done right. Dave, that's funny. :D And thanks for straightening me out there, marino. anyway, that's just an awesome video, SK. I wish I could identify the tunes - I hear something vaguely familiar then it's gone. That young kid on the trombone looked to be having the time of his life. I'm still way behind listening to everything here, too much going on in that other life. I'm curious to hear Peter's Martinu. I played a woodwind sextet by Martinu once that was a lot of fun - elements of jazz and ragtime, polytonality, polyrhythms - it was a kind of acrobatic experience that I personally found way more fun than the usual technical exercise of classical music. bye for now and thanks for the extreme tolerance.
  4. That's it? You fixed your links?? You're more work than I realized.
  5. I can't say that I'm a better musician because of this thread but I've learned to become a better listener and I've certainly appreciated everyone's insights. And I'm very proud to have 'helped' DH overcome a minor technological obstacle. It's great to finally hear you play! And even if you had painstakingly entered one note at a time, edited the dynamics and fussed with the tempo, I'd still enjoy hearing your idea of a good take.
  6. You're welcome, Dave! And yeah, Carlo rocks. If you want to hear him when he's wide awake, pick up La Linea. You won't regret it. 55! Maybe you should slow down. (ditto)
  7. hey, I like everything you play more and more with each new tune. I should have told you sooner.
  8. I have to confess that I went back and slowed down that "death warmed over" folk song (which I neither wrote nor improvised upon) after I had recorded it. Like anybody cares. The truth is, (I'm not shouting, I'm laughing) you ought to know by now that you've more than met your match with the regular contributors to this thread. To suggest otherwise is, ahem, typical. ... on your case? Who, me?
  9. You just had to ask. tsk tsk Nice to hear a real concert grand, Peter. I've gotten so used to the desensitized digital version that it almost seems lanky in comparison. Enjoyed your mystery tune... I have to say the intro sounded more like Somewhere Over the River Styx. I've yet to listen to the rest of your tunes, sorry. and SK, I can't say as I'd notice 1 notch of "cheating" on my own recordings, so kudos to you!
  10. Nice playing, Dave. What a great tune. I think the tendency with this one might be to wallow in nostalgia but you kept a clear head. And again your ending surprised me. Like a wave from Hermes. Or somebody. If you're going to redo it, I put in a request for the lyrics. Don't you live with a vocalist? Oh. And thanks.
  11. oh my gosh. Are you thanking me? Well, FUN to hear you play, Dave! And Slow Boat, no less. This is what I'd call popular music. Effervescent and sparkling. The most rhythmically challenged would find the beat. However. this doesn't strike me as a reharm. Any bass player could jump in and feel right at home, no? You've done cool things with the open spaces though. And I do like the surprise closing chord. Not complaining! Glad the Y-cable did the trick. And Audacity looks friendly (I took a look), which you can't always say about freeware.
  12. Funny, I get that reaction all the time. Wait til you get to know me. The $3 GarageBand Steinway. Thanks.
  13. Ok, since we're apparently off topic http://www.divshare.com/download/4475765-55f Not my reharm. Just discovered it in the Grade 5 vocal repertoire book. "Where Go the Boats?" from A Child's Garden of Verses. I think it would take a real special kid to want to sing this. Downright creepy. "Dark brown is the river..." anybody else seeing dead bodies? sorry
  14. "Why Shouldn't I" .. fun! You play with yourself very well. As an aside, I'm convinced I know less than .01% of the jazz standards ever written. "Impressions" .. don't recognize that either. This thread is costing me money in originals. I suppose I could always ask for ONE CHORUS the way the composer intended. Great to hear you again.
  15. That's monster BELONGS.
  16. He's back! Glad I didn't sleep in. I'm at 142MB. The suspense is killing me. Will I get it all, will I? Thanks SK
  17. SK's Not_Another_Who_Can_I_Turn_To mp3 Man that's beautiful. This could be my first ever "desert isle pick". Not that I asked permission to host it! Hope you don't mind, SK!
  18. Dave Ferris, thanks for converting all those files! Now we just need SK's movies converted and we're all set. (not that they take up any more space than an mp3, but they won't load in an ordinary Shuffle)
  19. I hope nobody inscribes that on my headstone. It's not going on yours, Carlo!
  20. ..and fans. (nothing to add to the thread, just want you to know it hasn't gotten old)
  21. You're too fun. gn and thanks lb.
