  1. The website information hasn't been updated yet but the file the Hammond US site links to is the new 8.3 update.
  2. To improve the line level output. Maybe to balance the Organ/EVs better. I just installed it and it seems the EV's are a little hotter than when I played it last. I had to turn the inputs to my amps down a little to balance them against the organ. Also, the voices themselves seem to sound a little crisper/clearer or open or something, it is hard to describe.
  3. There is an update to Release 8 (8.3) available: H/S update From the readme: HAMMOND SK1/2 Updator Release 8.3 Apr 16, 2014 Suzuki Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd Updated Files: - mainV1619.sys - DSPV1009.sys Updated Areas: -To improve the level of LINE output.
  4. There are 2 videos here (Click on Special): SK Videos The explanation narration is in Japanese but you can probably follow it. Playing single notes on the Prochord EV causes it to produce that note and the harmony notes of the chord being played by the organ voice.
  5. The first version of Rel. 8 had 1613 and 1024. There was a second version posted a couple of days later on the H/S Japan download page that had 1614 and 1024. The original posted date (IIRC- 1/23) didn't change on the page. This version wasn't posted to the H-US site. On 2/14 the Rel. 8 update had 1024 replaced with 1025. This updated Rel. 8 was posted to the H-US site. I think the change from 1024 to 1025 had to do with USB compatibility. While compatibility was improved with the change(s) before 1024, I think some USB drives that were previously compatible became not. 1025 fixed that. Good Luck.
  6. Every key should trigger a percussion tone. Do you have the keyboard set to trigger notes on the high or low point? Is Percussion Velocity off? This sounds familiar so I think someone has had this or a similar problem before. IIRC it started after one of the earlier updates and re-installing the update with a different USB drive resolved the problem. Its a long story but not all USB drives were compatible - look into SLC and MLC memory for more information. Some drives wouldn't work at all while others seemed to but then the SKs would have little weird things happen. Reinstalling the update with a different drive resolved the issues. Compatibility has been improved. What software version do you have installed? The first version of Rel. 8 was released in January but a second version came out about a week ago. If you've already installed release 8 check the main and subV versions. The most recent are 1614 and 1025. If yours are 1613 and 1024, download and install Rel. 8 again. If they are even older than those, update to Rel. 8 and see if that takes care of it. Good Luck.
  7. Scroll up the menu to page E and arrow over to System. (manual page 104)
  8. There is an update to the Release 8 Update available. Although USB compatibility was improved the first release 8 update had some issues with some drives. The update fixes those issues. Hammond US System Download Page
  9. You should be able to save patches that can be loaded into different setups. IIRC there is an arrow to the save etc. menu on the Patch menu page but I can't check now.
  10. I have the organ to the Leslies via the 8 pin cable and the EVs to amps via the SK-1's 1/4" outputs and both have reverb when it is on.
  11. Copied from another topic: Yes. There is a feature added in Rel. 6 that allows this - Sounding Point (Pg. 81 #25). When set to Deep both the organ and the EV triggers at the lower point. When set to Auto the organ triggers at the high point and the EV triggers at the low point unless they are layered in which case both trigger at the low point. Edit: With the SK-2 if the upper is organ and the lower is EV, the upper still triggers at the high point (or vice versa). With an SK-1 IIRC if a split is used both sides trigger at the low point if an EV is on.
  12. You should be able to just install Rel. 8. Also, if you have setup files for your SK-1 that you like you can load them into the SK-2 as well. You might have to change a few settings afterward to account for the lower manual but all the patches etc. will be there. If you have libraries installed in the SK-1 that are needed for those patches save a Whole setup on the SK-1 and load that into the SK-2.
  13. There is now a left arrow indicator on the Custom Tonewheel menu (Pg. 87 #2). That arrow brings you to the tonewheel set menu - save, load and delete.
  14. Maybe he meant the user installable libraries and now tonewheel settings can be saved/loaded.
  15. If you reset the SK to default does the noise go away? If so, it is something in the settings in that setup file that is causing it. Also, since Release 8 is out you might as well install it now.
  16. I think this is a tweak to taste type adjustment. Maybe someone can tweak theirs to match their own vintage Hammond and post the setting but whether or not that sounds good/right to someone else is still a judgement call.
  17. It doesn't appear to be in the update. Edit: The coloration parameter isn't available in the SK update. The XK-1c can use the extra capacity available to do more digital Leslie processing because it doesn't have to process effects for the EVs. They both use the same DSP chip.
  18. The Release 8 OS update is available here: SK Release 8 OS Update Here is the Readme file: HAMMOND SK1/2 Updator Release 8 Jan 20, 2014 Suzuki Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd Updated Files: - mainV1613.sys - subV1024.sys - sloadV1008.sys - DSPV1008.sys - presetV1206.sys - presetV1207.sys - LibAPianoPreLoad1400.sys - LibEPianoPreLoad1200.sys Updated Areas: - A new parameter has been added to the Vibrato/Chorus menu entitled "MIX". This control allows the balance of Chorus/Vibrato and direct (or unaffected) sound. As Vintage mechanical Hammonds have aged, their "scanner's" effect has weakened. This has created a very distinctive characteristic much desired by Vintage Hammond aficionados. At the same time. In some Vintage Hammonds, the aging of the "scanner" has produced the exact opposite, a highly effected sound-also desired. Our Normal setting (which is what the factory tolerance was on the Original B-3) is 11V. As you rotate the value control COUNTER-CLOCKWISE (the "V" value diminishes, through "EVEN" and after that, "D" value Rises) the CHORUS sound will diminish. We recommend [D10] as a good starting point in recreating a Vintage Mechanical Hammond. As you rotate the value control CLOCKWISE, the Vibrato element deepens. - A new parameter "VOLUME" has been added in the Drawbar - Foldback page. It controls the entire volume of the organ section at each patch. This allows better balance with the Extra Voice section. - A new sounding mode "LAST" has been added in the Drawbar - Pedal - Mode page. It sounds last note when 2 or more keys are pressed. - New functions "PROCHORD Open / Close" has been added in the Foot Switch "Tip". Prochord is now available for the Organ section. There are two voicings "Open Harmony" and "Closed Harmony". When the foot switch is depressed, the Prochord effect takes is applied. - Added the new instrument "Stereo GP Pad3" in the [A.PIANO]. This is "Piano and Synth Strings". - Added the new instrument "E.Piano FM Belly" in the [E.PIANO]. This is an "FM" Electronic Piano with pronounced "Bell" voicing. - The message "Completed" is displayed when the Voice library or Whole file has loaded. - The volume control of the music player has made smoother. - Added the function that load and save a Custom Tonewheel individually. - You may now save and load the Custom Tonewheel settings you create, or load Custom Tonewheel settings from others. There will also soon be Custom Tonewheel settings from Hammond Artists available from our website. - Improved USB compatibility.
  19. Yes, heat has affected the display and if the processors get hot enough they can probably act up too.
  20. I have my MIDI In set on Upper. With MIDI Receive Upper (Pg. 114 #16) set to Off program changes sent from a Peavey PC1600x do not change the selected Patch on the SK-1. If I change that setting to Ch. 1 they do. I can send LM drawbar changes from the PC1600x either way. Also, with that set to off the system lower manual still plays the SK-1's Upper manual and it responds to MIDI Expression control from the XK-3c.
  21. Try different Templates/MIDI In choices. I don't remember if mine ignores program changes or I catch them before they get to the SK-1. Everything I use to control/play the SK-1 runs through a computer/MIDI Mapper first. I may have that filter them out. I'll check later or tomorrow.
  22. There is only one reverb for both the organ and EVs so it can only be post the digital Leslie. Which doesn't work out well for spring reverb. It can be before or after the digital Leslie in the XK-3c and XK-1c. I think there must be a technical reason it can't be done or it would be available. Probably they would need a separate reverb for the organ and EVs to do it and it would cause reverbs to start and fade at odd points.
  23. The XM-2 and XK-3c do. I don't remember if the XK-3 does. The XK-1 doesn't. I programmed a Peavey PC1600x to send both versions years ago but it always sent the whole 0 - 127 range when using the individual CC# method. I don't know if I could have programmed it to do differently. The Hammond method was easy enough to program.
  24. The way they do it greatly reduces the amount of MIDI data that is sent/received. Using one CC# per manual you can grab several drawbars and send at most a couple dozen data numbers over the course of a second or so. With the 1 CC 0 - 127 per drawbar method it is hundreds. When sending this along with note on/off and expression etc. data some instruments choke on it and notes don't trigger when pressed or stay on after released, expression changes don't happen in sync with pedal movement etc. I had a Kurz. module that would do this. I think MIDI Solutions has a box that can be programmed to translate the 1 CC per manual method into the individual CCs if needed.
