  1. I recently added some sample playback capability to my system with a Squarp Rample. It does great percussion and drums of course, but I've been having great fun playing ambient clips sequenced from Grids. It has a nice balance of flexibility vs simplicity of use. No recording though.
  2. Also stabby knives and chicken feet (old KC joke)
  3. Pedals seem to be an even more expensive hobby than Euro rack.
  4. I recommend reading this ModWiggler thread: https://www.modwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=250759 CV to Midi is more complicated than Midi to CV. Those that convert CV to note on/off often do not convert CV to #CC.
  5. I will be surprised if it has the wonderful action of its predecessor.
  6. I've subjected myself to multiple viewings of "Phantom of the Paradise" for exactly the same reason - gearspotting T.O.N.T.O.
  7. Yup. Played one in a music store back in the day.
  8. I can see why Billy wants to forget. He killed the band after being caught shtupping the drummer's wife.
  9. As I recall, his C3 was for stabbin' (actually somewhat carefully but theatrically inserted between the keys.) The hapless L-100 however... rocked, kicked over, smacked... The Ls only lasted a gig or two because the wooden case would get destroyed, even after reinforcement.
  10. Did a show with Black Oak Arkansas once. They had a big show ending shtick where the 2 guitarists swung their instrument necks at each other while Jim Dandy ducked in between, ending with the guitars being smashed. Of course, they were cheap guitars taken out of cardboard boxes and swapped in right before the last song.
  11. Harbaugh sucks. Michigan sucks. Signed, OSU alumnus
  12. Brake does not provide that lovely coast down though.
  13. Maybe The Nuge has forgotten that before he embraced his caveman clown act, he did some of his best music in the Amboy Dukes, partnered with the smokin' organ player Andy Solomon.
  14. I'm about to embark on my new case build. I'm thinking 1/2" mahogany for the case sides, and aluminum back. I can keep the depth with internal PSU down to 3". It's kind of pushing the size limits of a laptop synth, but I'll make a purpose built wooden tray to hold it with an angled stand, maybe space to squeeze a laptop and or small kbd in. Need to figure out patch cable storage for my little portable lap station. Case parts are from Modular Synth Lab.
  15. I'll take credit for bugging Guido S enough about the horn stop position issue that he included a "stop in front" option in the Mojo sim. Some others have as well.
  16. The last rack I built was 3 space and was crammed with: Top row front: Radial KL-8 Top row back: I/O jack panel Middle row front: rack shelf with Roland XV-2020 and Boss VF-1 fx Bottom row front: blank panel with hole drilled for pushbutton Vent remote bypass switch Bottom row back: blank panel with AC input, mini power strip mounted to inside back, midi jacks for XV Inside: Vent 2 plus tied down power bricks
  17. Stop is another color in the organ's tonal palette.
  18. Mini remote manual for Ashby mod: https://neo-instruments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Mini-Remote-Users-Manual-1.2.pdf I believe the following is the option I used (no longer have that pedal to verify:) "PASS-THRU CONNECTION (TOP SETTING) SWAPPED PASS-THRU CONNECTION (BOTTOM SETTING) The top switch position provides foot switches that function exactly like the ones on a stock mini-VENT – except that they can be placed in another location. A 3-switch pedal can be used to provide dedicated switches for each function (Speed, Stop, Bypass). Tip: Toggles the Speed between Chorale (slow) and Tremolo (fast) Ring: Toggles between Bypass and Effect settings Tip+Ring: Selects Stop speed The bottom switch position works the same, except that the Ring and Tip+Ring functions are swapped. This makes it easier to select Stop speed with a 2-position pedal, moving Bypass to the more complicated two-switch press. Tip: Toggles the Speed between Chorale and Tremolo Ring: Selects Stop speed Tip+Ring: Toggles between Bypass and Effect settings A 3-wire cable with a TRS plug on the mini-VENT side is required to connect to the control pedal, wired as in Figure 2. The Mini-Remote senses the polarity of the switches (normally-open or normally-closed); however, the polarity types cannot be mixed. If no switch is plugged in at startup, the Mini-Remote will assume that the switches are normally-open polarity." I had a dual momentary footswitch plugged into the MiniVent that worked like the following after programming: Right switch toggles Fast. Left switch short press chooses Stop or Chorale. Long left switch press was Bypass.
  19. I believe it does. At least on my MiniVent (w/ Ashby mod) I could easily switch between Fast<->Stop with coast and Fast<->Slow.
  20. I also used a Princeton in the studio, but on my Nord Wurlie. Sounded great.
  21. At least it didn't single handedly kill their careers, unlike a certain guitar hero goofy dancing ...
  22. Forget synth programming, practice your air playing instead.
