  1. I think it's time to try a Montage. Thanks for your help, Elmer. I appreciate it.
  2. That's a great way of putting it. >>>>S90ES"s action has weight to it but swings quickly<<<< So would you say the CP88 is the closest to the S90ES in terms of action?
  3. Do you know if the Montage 8 and CP88 have the same keyed as those in the S90 and ES? Are the keys lighter, heavier? I had an S90 for about 15 years until it died. I took it in for repairs but the tech couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I tried with Yamaha in LA but said they no longer do repairs on that keyboard. I ended buying a Kawai MP11SE, which has a great key-bed for piano playing, but I really do miss the S90 key-bed.
  4. Anyone know if Yamaha makes another keyboard with the identical S90 key-bed? Thanks!
  5. Hi James, Yes, everything is working perfectly. Cheers!
  6. Markyboard, thanks for the info. Calibrating the DP10 did the trick.
  7. Half Adjust didn't do anything, although I did find this info in the manual. Pic attached. Calibrating the EXP pedal. I'm not using a EXP pedal but a sustain pedal. Do you think calibrating the DP10 might work? Thanks again!
  8. The MP11SE Pedal > Half Adjust is set to 5. I can set it anywhere between 1 and 10. I'll futz around with that. See what happens.
  9. The DP10 is connected to the EXP input, and the Kawai EXP Type switch on the back is set to TIP. If I set it to RING, I get a reverse polarity (sustain is all the way up). I'll see what the manual has to say about offset voltage and calibration. Thanks!
  10. Hi Markyboard, Thanks for the info. It seems I'm able to get full range (1-127) when I start playing, but when I'm not sustaining, the pedal doesn't go back to 1. It stays at 12 as shown in the pic. Is this normal and any thoughts as to why this might be happening? Thanks!
  11. I may have figured it out. Setting the switch on the DP10 to Continuous and plugging it into the MP11SE Expression port and setting it to CC#64. Pro Tools is now able to read 1-127 continuous.
  12. I really don't want to use the Kawai pedal. I'd like the DP10 to work with my MP11SE via continuous sustain, in other words, 1 - 127 instead of On & Off.
  13. I'm playing on a Kawai MP11SE. Love the keyboard, the pedal not so much. I bought a new Roland DP10 which I'm used to. For Sustain, I have it set to Switch which is an on/off. If I set it to Continuous, the Sustain no longer works. Anyone know how to get the sustain to work on the Kawai when the DP10 is set to Continuous? At the moment, I have the DP10 set to Switch and Kawai set to CC64 under Control (Right Pedal). Thanks!
  14. Hey Old No7, thanks for the info. I appreciate that.
  15. I'll try that. Maybe that's the trick. Thanks!
  16. Thanks guys, I already did that. I was hoping for a more appealing fix. :-)
  17. I was brushing the dust off my MP11 with a paint brush and accidentally scuffed the wooden top. Don't ask me how. I attached a pic. Any suggestions? Not on the brush but the scuff? Thanks!
  18. I have both the MP11SE and MP7SE. The bounce noise and repetition on the MP7SE is extremely noticeable. As a matter of fact, you hardly hear the noise on the MP11SE and the bounce isn't noticeable. If it wasn't for the noise and bounce repetition from the MP7SE, I would have kept it.
  19. The MP11 might introduce less "keybounce-noise", but the keys bounce back the same when released. I really wanted to like the MP11 and can go over to a friend owning one. It´s a 15min drive only, so I did for several times. The "key bounce when released" was the deal breaker for me and I hate reading it´s the same w/ the MP7SE (which I never played up to now). I wonder if the triple-sensor-technology compensates for keybounce when playing repetitions and not only for internal sounds but also for MIDI out. The spring loaded balanced weighted action of my 29 years old MK80 is the only one I´m aware of not bouncing back at all. It´s noisy nonetheless and even we replaced key return and key landing felts,- but it doesn´t bounce and that´s what I like for digital keyboards being used as MIDI controllers also. But,- on the MK80 I hate internal sounds (when I use ´em at all today) trigger earlier than outgoing MIDI notes,- so there´s a little "flam" audible always w/ midied percussive attack sounds. I know, keys bounce on an acoustic piano too, but I don´t think manufacturers should focus acoustic piano and original action behaviour too much WHEN offering a wider sound palette and MIDI masterkeyboard functionality in addition. IMO it doesn´t make sense copying the disadvantages of an acoustic piano´s action for a digital multi-timbral instrument. A.C. I have both the 11 and 7. The keys on the 11 definitely doesn't bounce back like the repetitive bounce of a 7. These 2 keybeds are completely different in every way.
  20. Well I got the MP7. The good news. It's a mini-me version of the MP11. The black keys are not slippery and the key return is slightly faster. The thing that bothers me most about it is the key return bouncing noise. It's as though the keys bounce 3-4 times when you let go. I don't know if this is something I can get used to. What I like about the MP11. No key bounce noise. It feels solid. What bothers me about the MP11 are the slippery black keys and the key return isn't as fast as the MP7.
  21. I should be getting one tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  22. Thanks for the info, Star Guy, I appreciate it.
  23. So now I'm confused. You're saying the MP7SE action feels nice, very weighty? The MP11SE keybed is pretty light IMO compared to a lot of keyboards I've tried, but the only thing bothering me is the slow key return. I'm really hoping the MP7SE has a faster key return and that the key weight is a tad lighter than the MP11SE.
