  1. So I just swapped the MP11SE for the Montage 8. I have it connected to my 2019 Mac Pro via USB. To be clear, I never had this problem with the MP11SE. I bring up my Pro Tools template, and I'll record a staccato violin (one note only) on the Montage (in this case C4, but this happens no matter what notes I play), it'll show up as though it's been played 5 times. See pic below. As you can see from the pic, there are (5) C4 Events. When I play the note, 4 of the 5 events will appear in the MIDI Event list when the key is down. When I let go of the key, 1 event will appear. The other thing that occurs is that when I'm recording the staccato violin, it's much louder than when I'm playing it back. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? Thanks!
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping to use the faders to control the CC# in the Spitfire libraries using Kontakt.
  3. Hi David, Thanks for the info. At this point, all I'm trying to do is get the 8 faders to send CC# 21 to 28. I'll look on Youtube and Yamaha site.
  4. I've been playing the Montage 8 the last few days, and it's an amazing keyboard. I love the keybed coming from an S90. I'll be using it as my master keyboard. I have a lot of orchestral libraries, Spitfire, Vienna Symphonic, etc... I'd like to utilize the 8 faders on the Montage to control CC# 21 to 28. Is there an easy way to achieve this? Thanks!
  5. Hey guys, Are the 1/4 inch Balanced outputs on the Montage: 1) HiZ outputs 2) LowZ Line Level outputs Thanks!
  6. Great, I'll give it a go and let you know if it works. Thanks again. I appreciate it.
  7. Hi Mark, I just got your PM. So If I solder as shown in the picture below, will that work? Before - After White - Red Black - White Red - Black Thanks!
  8. Unless I'm mistaken, the DP-10 doesn't have a polarity switch. The only switch I see is the Switch to Continuous.
  9. Here are 3 examples using the DP-10 with the Montage in Pro Tools. Top example is with the DP-10 connected to the Sustain port, Montage set to FC3A (Half On), and the DP-10 set to Switch. All you get is On - Off. Middle example is with the DP-10 connected to the Sustain port, Montage set to FC3A (Half On), but the DP-10 set to Continuous. Notice the continuous behavior. Lower example is with the DP-10 connected to the Foot Controller 1 port, Montage set to FC3A (Half On), and the DP-10 is set to Continuous. I can't get 64CC to read anything below 61. Is there any way to fix this?
  10. Markyboard, so if I have the settings as written below, it should work? - DP-10 set to Continuous - Connect the DP-10 to Sustain port on the Montage - Set the Montage to FC3A (Half On) I've tried this and it doesn't work. Am I missing something? Thanks!
  11. I just purchased a Roland DP-10 sustain pedal. I like the feel of that particular pedal. The switch on the pedal is set to Continuous and I have it plugged into the Montage Sustain input. When I play piano for instance, I can't get the sustain to work. If I put the DP-10 to Switch, the piano will sustain, but I'm only getting an On/Off in Pro Tools instead of Continuous. How do I get the sustain to work with the Montage when the DP-10 is set to Continuous? Thanks!
  12. Hey guys, I just updated the firmware, but I can't seem to get any info on how to stop the Super Knob from flashing, but keep the color ON. Anyone know? UPDATE: Never mind, I figured it out.
  13. I just got the Montage 8 (white version). I no longer have the S90, but from what I remember the keybed feels just like it. The key return is quick. Exactly what I need when playing percussion/drums and synths. I'll even make use of the internal sounds. The white looks amazing. ð
  14. You would think that if the Montage 8 and S90 use the same Balanced Hammer Effect keybed, they would be identical. In your opinion, is the Montage 8 keybed heavier? I'm playing on a Kawai MP11SE. Some would consider that keybed light. Great for piano but I need a faster return key especially when playing orchestral instruments. I've always liked Yamaha keyboards, especially the S90. I don't want to buy another S90 though. I want something up to date. I'm hoping the Montage 8 is a great replacement.
  15. I owned and gigged an S90 for almost 10 years. I've probably played the Montage 8, maybe a half dozen times. I feel the Montage as a more substantial and overall a much more refined instrument then the S90. I wouldn't hesitate in the least choosing it over the S90. The MP11SE action feels really good to me but I don't like Kawai piano sounds and the overall player connection of the instrument compared to say even a lesser Yamaha P-515....ymmv. I think the Montage 8 could be construed as a "faster" key action then the Kawai. Hey Dave, I like the MP11SE too. I love it when playing piano. Are you saying that the Montage 8 has a lighter keybed than the MP11SE, which is why you would construe it as being faster?
  16. I thought the S90 and XS had the same keybed, no?
  17. Hey guys, I'm about to purchase the Montage 8. To reiterate, the Montage 8 has the same keybed as the S90 or is it slightly different? At the moment, I'm playing on a Kawai MP11SE and I need a faster keybed. According to the info on Yamaha's webpage, the Montage 8 has a Balanced Hammer Effect keybed, which is what the S90 had.
  18. Experimenting would be the way to describe it. I never ever used a keyboards internal sounds. As a composer, I use mainly VI's into Pro Tools. I guess the only thing I really need is the keybed (I would build my own wooden work-station for the keybed), and there must be a way to connect a sustain pedal, USB to computer and a power supply, but I don't know how difficult that would be.
  19. Sam Mims from Syntaur said: Yes, it is an exact replacement keybed from Yamaha for the S90.
  20. CEB, thanks for the suggestion. I've been looking on Reverb and there are a few. Also, this company Syntaur say they stock the S90 key-bed. https://syntaur.com/Items.php?Item=5131 If I built my own wooden work-station and incorporated the keyed, how difficult is it to get the key-bed to work? EX: Power, USB and Sustain
  21. The Montage it is. I really don't need the internal sounds, but willing to give it a try. This company Syntaur say they stock the S90 key-bed. https://syntaur.com/Items.php?Item=5131 If I created my own wooden work-station and incorporated the keyed, how difficult is it to get the key-bed to work?
