Imagine
Hey guys, I'm looking for a work-station that will hold a Montage 88, and that you can slide in and out from the bottom. Any suggestions? Thanks!
midinut
I got one of the Output Platform desks. Love the desk but you are limited on size and weight on the slide-out shelf. I've had a Keystation 88es on it with no issues until today. SW just delivered a KeyLab 88 Essentials. If I measured correctly, it will fit just fine. I will relegate the KeyStation to the practice studio at the guitar player's house so I won't need to lug anything back and forth. My Kronos 88 will NOT fit on that shelf. Nor will my MODX7. I already had a KeyLab 61 mk1 that fits on it just fine, just prefer to have an 88 on there. On another note, a lot of the computer desks that a lot of us have pressed into service in our studios have shelves that were designed more to hold a QWERTY keyboard, not a REAL keyboard. lol Quote Hardware: Yamaha: MODX7 | Korg: Kronos 88, Wavestate | ASM: Hydrasynth Deluxe | Roland: Jupiter-Xm, Cloud Pro, TD-9K V-Drums | Alesis: StrikePad Pro| Behringer: Crave, Poly D, XR-18, RX1602 | CPS: SpaceStation SSv2 | Controllers: ROLI RISE 49 | Arturia KeyLab Essentials 88, KeyLab 61, MiniLab | M-Audio KeyStation 88 & 49 | Akai EWI USB | Novation LaunchPad Mini, | Guitars & Such: Line 6 Variax, Helix LT, POD X3 Live, Martin Acoustic, DG Strat Copy, LP Sunburst Copy, Natural Tele Copy| Squier Precision 5-String Bass | Mandolin | Banjo | Ukulele Software: Recording: MacBook Pro | Mac Mini | Logic Pro X | Mainstage | Cubase Pro 12 | Ableton Live 11 | Monitors: M-Audio BX8 | Presonus Eris 3.5BT Monitors | Slate Digital VSX Headphones & ML-1 Mic | Behringer XR-18 & RX1602 Mixers | Beyerdynamics DT-770 & DT-240 Arturia: V-Collection 9 | Native Instruments: Komplete 1 Standard | Spectrasonics: Omnisphere 2, Keyscape, Trilian | Korg: Legacy Collection 4 | Roland: Cloud Pro | GForce: Most all of their plugins | u-he: Diva, Hive 2, Repro, Zebra Legacy | AAS: Most of their VSTs | IK Multimedia: SampleTank 4 Max, Sonik Synth, MODO Drums & Bass | Cherry Audio: Most of their VSTs |
Docbop
That is why the Output desk fell off my list of keyboard work desks first. When I looked at their list of keyboards that fit none of the ones I was considering fit. A lot of the keyboard seem to be too tall. You'd thing Output would of made changes by now to fit more keyboards.
Imagine
Thanks, the Output is a great price, but as noted the Montage 8 will not fit. This desk is more expensive, but the Montage will fit except the front will stick out about an inch. They can custom fix that. https://www.unterlass.info/EN/products/key-88/
Lady Gaia
As someone who designed a desk from scratch last year, one of the hardest constraints is around keyboard height - and the Montage 8 is unusually tall at 6.68 inches. Trying to give yourself enough legroom, while keeping key tops at an appropriate level and not having the desktop surface absurdly high put this particular Yamaha right out of the running for me. Ditto for a number of Kawai keyboards I might otherwise have found appealing for their action. I wound up leaving 6.5" of vertical space on the keyboard tray, which was pretty much what I saw in the most expansive commercial offerings. I had hoped that Yamaha would address this particular issues with a Montage successor, but alas I had to commit to something else rather than waiting forever.
