I bet that the Gumi has a nice resonant sound, a little more like a LP Junior, Special, or SG, with that thin, flat-topped body. I'd consider some kind of P-90 style pickups for it, perhaps Seymore Duncan Phat Cats or Gibson P-94's (both are P-90 pickups that will retrofit directly into a "standard" humbucker's bezel and routing). Then knock the rust off your "Open-G"... spraken zie Keef? I'm with Geoff, put a little smidgeon of fretboard-oil on there, it's been a long and bumpy chicken-$h!t road for the poor wooden waifs!
