synthetic
It it OK on an acoustic or electric to tune up 1/2 step, or does this put too much pressure on the neck? I have a song I want to record in Bb and it's tough for me to play with a capo. I'd like to do this on my Taylor acoustic and Fender Strat. Thanks. Gabriel E.
It won't be a problem on the strat. Might increase the neck relief somewhat but it won't hurt anything. On an acoustic it should be ok as well as long as you aren't using super heavy strings. Might want to go down a guage. Werewolf by Night
Yeah, like Gabriel E. says, that should be fine on an acoustic with "normal" (.012s or so) strings. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/icons/icon3.gif You might also try tuning down a whole-step, and playing chords and fingerings normally "in the key of C". southpawstrat
Curtis Mayfield used to tune up to F#, so I think you're good. synthetic
I have the "lights" that came on my Taylor, gauge unknown but I think I'm good. Thanks!
