For me it would be a Les Paul Supreme with a Jimmy Page Sunburst Finish, except it would be half the weight and would still have that excellent sustain and rock sound. The neck-joint location would be around the 20th fret for easier solo maneuvarability and it would have 22 frets. It would also have a "vibrato bar" thing whatever their called with the best quality vintage pickups there is.

If I could cross-breed a Les Paul with a Tele then I think I'd be pretty happy. I'm sure such a beast probably exists, but since I have a Paul and a Tele, I don't need to worry about cramming them into one package!

The only other design that speaks to me is the Jaguar. I love the style of that guitar, it looks like Leo decided to make a Strat while he was tripping!

If I get to keep all the guitars I've got now, a Fender Cyclone with a coil-split switch for the bridge humbucker would be it. I'd want it with an arctic white body, black pearloid pickguard, and a white Duncan Invader in the bridge.

The stock Strat with rosewood fingerboard works for me.... provided the thing is insulated to kill most of the hum.

I would like to add a high-output Gibson-style humbucker to it, but it's impossible to do that without compromising the original Strat sounds - all of which I love. So I'm willing to live without it.

I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist.

This ain't no track meet; this is football.

Awesome sustain, great tones, classy looks, solid construction, intuitive controls, active/passive switch, and sexy to hold. And, you can get one for well under $1,000 U.S. :thu:

If there were a 7 string version, I'd snap that up in a second.

My "perfect" guitar would be one that sounds better than any I've ever played.

...... Wait a minute, maybe it's not the guitar, and I should just practice more...;)

Nice guitar Taz! But, if those EMG sound like the EMG Hz pickups I tried, they'd be coming out and some passive Duncans would be taking their place.

The passive/active switch I mention of in this guitar is the EMG Turbocharger. When it's switched on, the gain boost is from 0-20db. More than enough boost for me.

I bet the EMG HZ's that were used were

these pickups. That may confirm what I said about them in this Harmony Central review , dated 11/23/2003.

Yeah, that's my new axe. I've had her almost a week now. Plays great, and sounds really sweet. I'm still getting used to it's feel (as I'm used to playing a strat these days, it really has a different vibe about it!). The neck has a kinda "fast" feel about it that's really smooth to play.

What kind of tone does it have? I'd bet it's great for Brian Setzer rock-a-billy stuff or blues. I've not had the chance to plug one of the Artcore's in, but I have played a Brian Setzer 6120 Hot Rod. SWEET!! Have you played a 6120? How do they compare?

It does have a really good rockabilly tone, and has a really nice growl for blues, but it also has nice fat, round, jazz tones too.

I didn't get a chance to play the 6120, but I did play a different (similar) Gretsch (unfortunately, I don't remember the model  , sorry). It was fairly similar in tones, but I didn't like the feel quite as much (I know, that's just a personal thing, but that's what you gotta work with).

I've played them. The acoustic is a Kathy Wingert built cocobolo concert. It was absolute perfection in every respect. Stunning... $8500. Phil Keaggy and James Taylor should be playing this guitar instead of their Olsens and Langejeans...

For me, the perfect electric is a Holdsworth Fatboy. I convinced a guy from another board (who has been playing for 45 years and has owned and played countless guitars of every price range imaginable) while he was in L.A. to stop to the Carvin factory outlet store there and play one. He took me up on it. His comments were that 1), he had never in all of his years seen a guitar on the showroom floor with absolutely perfect fretwork... until now. It was completely flawless as was setup. 2) He hadn't seen workmanship and quality of construction that good outside of a $40,000 custom built guitar. 3) Tone was outstanding as was balance and feel. 4) Now, he said he has to scrape up the $918 it would cost!

I rest my case(s). Boggs
