TuskBuffer
Okay, so it's been a few weeks since I last looked in on the forum (been extraordinarily busy lately), and now I think I recognize about three names! Caevan O’Shite
Hey, and welcome back to our favorite "Relic of the Pliocene!" How've ya been, what's new? I was wondering about you, and a few others, just yesterday. seems like almost every time I think about PM-ing someone who's been MIA for a bit, they pop up again before I do. So, you pick up any "Star Clients" lately? How goes the pick-making, guitar playing, and Mendelsohn arrangin'? doc taz
Hey, I'm still here! As usual, I've changed my "virtual girlfriend" She's probably the oldest I've had, but quite the beauty, and loves to read Medieval texts in her spare time. She's also quite the sensual personality, and loves to cook. Unfortunately, I won't see her in person anytime soon, as she hails from jolly Old England. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page

revolead
Well, what's happened here? 1. We all still have GAS problems and we can't find a cure. 2. Cavean O'Shite is still the forum leader in posts per hour. 3. I still need a tube amp. 4. We still have no money. 5. I'm still around, unfortunately. Shut up and play. Dave da Dude
Hey Tuskbuffer, WELCOME BACK! We missed you. revolead, 1. We all still have GAS problems and we can't find a cure. 2. Cavean O'Shite is still the forum leader in posts per hour. 3. I still need a tube amp. 4. We still have no money. 5. I'm still around, unfortunately. 1. The cure is to BUY, BUY, BUY. The pain will fade. 2. Slow but steady wins the race. I may only post one an hour, but twenty-four a day is good. 3. So buy it. 4. See 3. Try ebay for a used one. I did pretty well for $350. And my wife still speaks to me, occassionally. 5. No. FORTUNATELY, for us anyway. Dave Gotta' geetar... got the amp. There must be SOMEthing else I... "need". TuskBuffer
In answer to some of the questions--the pick biz is doing pretty well. In fact, I'm trying to tone it down a little, because it takes so much time to make these little buggers! Now I find out that I'm going to be a featured site on PayPal.com! Yikes! Dr. Taz--Grrrrrrrrr (Roy Orbison style) to your new virtual girl! DarkLander--Love the screen name/avatar! MikeGug--And now for Uncle Tusks story: So, there I was with a crapped out oil pump in my car (not good). I got a friend of mine to put a new one in for me before it was too late, luckily. The next day, I was driving around town, looking all cool in my '94 Mercury Topaz, when suddenly I've got clouds of smoke coming from my under my hood! The hose from the radiator to the water pump blew--antifreeze all over the place, and in a big puddle under my car. Turns out it was an "alternately engineered" part, and was originally supposed to be a metal tube, rather than a hose. Got the part from the dealership-$64.00 for a stinkin' little tube! My friend was installing it when I decided to check the outer tie rod ends (I knew they were going bad). Well, I did little more than touch one, the darn thing came apart in my hands! I ended up installing these myself, laughing in hysterics, wondering what else will go wrong. The brakes need to be done, but I think I'll just get an anchor to throw out the window when I need to stop. Just think, another coupla hundred bucks worth of work to go into it, and I'll be able to sell it for, um, a coupla hundred bucks! Okay, I know it's not guitar related, but it's the funniest thing that's happened to me in a while, and I just had to share. revolead
Dave, I have no money. I'm in college. That's the problem. I don't have less money, I have NO money. Otherwise I probably would have that tube amp. Shut up and play.
fantasticsound
Sorry to hear you're in a similar situation to mine, Tusk.. Please, don't even ask about my car woes. Their too depressing to talk about. Glad to have ya back. (I only post from work these days, so ya won't see near as many contributions from me.) It's easiest to find me on Facebook. revolead
I should. I don't know how many people would listen though. Plus asking for amp money when I'm quite clearly playing through an amp, might not go over with the non-guitar crowd. Shut up and play.

Plus asking for amp money when I'm quite clearly playing through an amp, might not go over with the non-guitar crowd. You SHOULD sit on a street corner with a hat out. I've said it before, you only need to know three or four songs. No one will stick around for that long, and it'd be a lot like woodsehdding! You'd be getting paid to practice! That happens in Sacramento al the time. Nothing like San Fran, but HEY! Thanks for the story Uncle Tusk! I'm feeling for you on the car thing though. I had a Ford Fairmont like that. I'm still using and haven't lost my pick! I still like it. Very good investment. Mikegug www.facebook.com/theresistancemusic

I wish I could remember(or forget) how many oil(and other kinds of) pumps I have installed into my rustbucket cars. However, I am glad to see you have a sense of humour about it BTW, I used to lurk and read many of your posts. I have since started posting and have started getting a taste of what the real world is like. I hope your wheels get you through, until the next set comes along.
