LOL...

A friend of mine played a couple of sets' worth of Who songs at a party for Pete Townshend's birthday (no, Pete wasn't there http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif, it was just a tribute thing). He bought a Tesco for the occasion which he smashed. That was a good use for it.

If I understand correctly, he had to move the bridge since he cut away several inches of body between the neck and bridge (in it's original position). He just didn't measure the original scale length first, I think! Yes, no, Pop?

I'd learn some Lenny Breau harp style licks. I'll bet the combination of fretted and out of tune harmonics would be.. well.. interesting! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You could always find out from a luthier what the scale length should be and remount the bridge and frets. It COULD WORK!!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif

Put batwings and a rocket engine on it...do a couple of wind tunnel tests...put a wireless transmitter on it, and record the sound it transmits as it's launched into oblivion. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Your very own Wiley Coyote guitar.

Speaking of which, the cover from "Acme Road":

Besides, one thing this guitar is really good at is playing that initial guitar chord on the Looney Tunes theme... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey!!! That glissando was played on an IN TUNE guitar! Boy, you think cartoons are all screwball fun and games? This is serious business...... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

How about installing a Roland GK-2 Hex pickup, using a VG-88, and retune the patch preset to autotune this monster into a usable standard guitar, again! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

i'm pretty sure the string length (nut to bridge) on a guitar should be about 25 inches.

that said, kudos to you for fucking it up!

an idea: how many pickups can you fit on it? i've thought about putting all of the pickups in my junk box onto an old junker guitar with a selector/phase switch for each. tone and overtones would change with each combination. could get super crazy thru a BIG MUFF.

I think you have to take into effect the size dumpter you're going to throw this thing in.

20 yard? 40 yard? Certainly not one of those cheezy-found-it-behind-an-apartmenthouse-dumpsters??!!

And just how much compression do you put on that?

Try cutting it into pieces with a chainsaw! But don't use one of those cheap Makita's. No, sir! Use a McCullough! That ought to be musical enough for you, Pop!

Just watch out for flying string, wood, and metal shards!

thought I might try tuning the strings so that there's a 5th that's repeated throughout... For example, tune everything to E and B... And then try doing a sitar-like drone thing with it...?

How about 6 strings tuned to A. I mean... the same octave, A, all the way across. Make it 5 strings and chuck the 6th string. That should give you points with Lee Flier. (ala Keith Richards) Of course, he can almost play HIS guitars in tune! (AAuuuugghhh! I was just kidding, Lee!)

A friend of mine took me to see a group called the Plasmatics at CBGB's once. The guitarist sawed a strat in half with a chainsaw while it was plugged onto a Marshall stack. The chainsaw was mic'ed too. The lead singer, Wendy O looked cute in high heels, a G'string and two pieces of electrical tape by the way. I guess your guitar has seen enough of the saw though.

I have no suggestions about how to make it sound musical, but I think you should take it to every pawn shop and music store in your area and try to sell it as a custom made (insert fancy sounding original name here). Tell them it's on of a kind (true) and that you have to sell it because of a financial hardship, but you need at least $1200 for it. Let them talk you down to $800. Go but a new Strat. Better yet, take a pic and try to sell it on ebay!!
I really don't know what to put here.

Sorry, Pop.

Guess you're not getting much help on this one. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Actually, the first thing I thought after the dumpster thing was...

Sympathetic Drone Strings!! They've always intrigued me, but I have no experience with them.

Besides, if it sounds like crap, you can call them just Pathetic Drone Strings!

UGH -- IT'S AWFUL!!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh well -- I guess not all experiments can be successful. I thought I was onto something, but perhaps I should just stick with using a slide on a fretted guitar... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

At least Popmusic's Monster (Ala Frankenstein's) isn't terrorizing the community and attacking fair damsels in distress...

Of course, if your parents were home when you played it again, they might disagree with me, regarding the terror! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I wonder what it would sound like underwater??? (You may find out if you play it in earshot of the wrong people... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif )

After carefully considering all the info you have supplied re: this creature I think that you should paint it metallic chartreuse or something, mount it on a mic stand, coat it with napalm (easy: mix oil, gas and jello) turn it up all the way, then toss a match on it and record the sound of it immolating. This could be done as a piece of live performance art that would finally top Hendrix's act at Monterey Pop '67.
