Fred
Does anyone know what sort of acoustic guitar setup James Taylor uses in the studio? What kind of guitar, which strings (brand and guages), what kind of mics and mic placement, etc.. Fred
D. Gauss
i don't know about now, but in the old days, i think he never went into the studio without a martin guitar, a big needle, and an even bigger bag of heroin.... ThinDave
James plays an Olson guitar - I think an SJ... He's also got one of those internal boom mics... http://www.olsonguitars.com/ Dave
Tedster
Really cool site...says he uses a Baggs pickup...a wealth of info on how he gets his sound...Adamas Phosphor Bronze strings...hmmm...have to try 'em. I've always been a real fan of J.T.'s sound. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Philip OKeefe
I thought I read somewhere that his early stuff (circa Mudslide Slim) was all done on a Gibson J45... fantasticsound
Neat site for Olsen guitars. When JT played Starwood, outside Nashville, Tn in 1997, I worked crew for it. I spent some time after load in and setup with JT's guitar tech. They had 4 or 5 guitars onstage, if I remember correctly. Several were Taylor guitars. I have no idea if he still plays them, onstage or in the studio, but that's what I remember being on the tech's stands. ------------------ Neil Reality: A few moments of lucidity surrounded by insanity.
