I own a Pod 2.0 and Flextone II

I really like the Line 6 stuff for layered tones.

I have gotten some very nice tracks from both the Flextone and the POD.

The J-Station I was not all that impressed wth. I really don't like the Johnson stuff all that much - sounds very sterile and processed. This is an improvement over the amp tough.

As for the Yamaha. The amp version is great. It has alot of punch and is very warm. I have not checked out the stomp box yet. I am looking forward to it.

I still think all three of them still need to work on that Fender Sparkle. The Cleans are still a little lacking for my tastes.

Thats why I woun't sell the real amps. Not yet atleast.

Good question...

Oh, by the way, what's the best guitar? Or amp? Or Music? Or Guitarist? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/eek.gif

OK, Tedster gets sarcastic sometimes... Why not me too! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Here's my opinion...

I'm a POD guy. I've bought, experimented with and returned the J-station, Digitech RP-100, and Yamaha DG Stomp. (the Guitar Center guys don't like it much, but a policy is a policy and I keep everything in great condition during the trial).

I've also played with a friends SansAmp classic, and used the Roland COSM effects in my VS-880ex.

IMHO:

- POD has the best sounds and the most "good" (to my ears) models. It is easy to use, and with the MIDI software gives me deep editing and patch sharing. My favorite so far.

- SansAmp is well regarded, is used by many players and I like its clean sounds. Before the POD, I thought it was the best.

- J-Station has nice effects. That's a common statement and a harsh critique since what you're hoping to buy is a great amp modeler. I find all Johnson based products have a "metallic" sound... which I don't prefer.

- DG Stomp is a worthy product. I liked it's sounds but found there wasn't as many variations as I found with the POD. I would probably pick this if I wanted a different option to POD.

- Digitech RP-100... I couldn't find a sound I liked with this unit. It's cheap! Johnson type "metallic" sounds.

- Roland COSM effects sound OK, but not very "realistic" IMHO.

That's my take on these...

I'm still "guitplayer"!

Buddy

I just did a search at the Digitech site hoping to read about the Genesis3. I couldn't find any matches for that or Genesis. Maybe it is too early, but I saw another product that they are introducing today (March 1st, 2001) called the GNX1, and utilizing "GENETX" technology. GENETX/GENESIS - well, they look a little similar, especially their logo, and I got to wondering if that is it.

It looks interesting, but I'm not quite sure how it differs from the RP2000. Digitech often has several products that seem very similar to me. Be that as it may, I heard some good sounds come from Digitech stuff, but I don't own any.

Sarcastic? MOI? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Boy, I nearly bought a POD yesterday...what a choice...

(Picture Homer mumbling to self):..."Hmmm, buy the POD? Keep my testicles? Buy the POD? Keep my testicles?"

Needless to say, my wife is happy, and I'm happy that I'm not singing soprano. But maybe I can talk her into letting me have one soon.
