mooghead
Hi guys, does anybody know the tune "Smile of the Beyond"? It's from the album Apocalypse by Mahavishnu Orchestra. I'd like to play it with my electric jazz project and: A - I fear I'm not able to transcribe it and "understand" its harmony only by listening B- I can't find a midi file on the internet I refer in particular to the first part, the strings + voice long intro which leads to the fast, distorted, shredding second part till the end. Does anybody of you know its harmony/chords or where to find a midi file? Thank you for your precious comments :-) Andrea.
burningbusch
"Miles Beyond" I could help you with. "Smile of the Beyond", I'm afraid I can't. Busch.
Phil W
There are, or were, a whole bunch of free Mahvishnu Orchestra transcriptions online. Mostly from the first line-up though, I think. They have transcriptions of the violin, guitar, bass, keyboard and drum parts. Try searching for Mahavishnu on the Lowdown bass forum as I think the link might have been posted there. http://philwbass.com
Phil W
Here you go, I found the link http://www.cs.cf.ac.uk/Dave/MclaughlinBook/ The tune you wanted isn't there; but you might choose one of the others. Phil http://philwbass.com
