Bobsk8
I took a trip up to New York City this past weekend and while I was there I went to t he Bluenote and saw Christian McBride Trio with Benny Green on Piano and Dedi Bridgewater on Vocals.. They were smoking. Some of the tempos that they took scared me to death and they acted like it was nothing.. The first night I went to the New Birdland on 44th street and caught the Kenney Garrett Quartet. After their set, the people clapped there hands for about 5 minutes for them to do an encore....... http://www.bluenotejazz.com/live/index.html http://www.birdlandjazz.com/ By the way, both clubs now feature the Bosendorfer in all their advertising as well as having one on the bandstand. Looks like Steinway and Yamaha are a thing of the past in most of these Jazz Clubs.
Jazzwee
At the Jazz Bakery in L.A. it's a Yamaha Grand (but this is a nonprofit so probably Bosendorfer would be out of the budget). I saw Benny here too in the summer. Benny played some really tasteful stuff and not fast at all. He got a standing ovation (and he was just a sideman).
