aCapeLLa
Hi everyone, I have to make a short presentation of an embedded system in one of my classes next week. I want to present a synthesizer as an embedded system. I found the service manual and circuit schematics of the Yamaha DX-7 at http://www.maths.abdn.ac.uk/~bensondj/html/dx7.html which is very helpful for my technical presentation. But I would also like to present how a more contemporary synth works. Does anyone here have a service manual, schematics, etc. of a recent synth/keyboard and maybe email it to me? Or do you know of websites where I could get the information I need? Thanks Chris email: crisoto***hotmail.com (replace *** by @)
soundscape
Well, FWIW... Here's some photos of the inside of the Yamaha Tyros arranger: http://www.svpworld.com/tyrosinside.htm As you can see, a couple of Yamaha ASICs, and Hitachi SH-3 CPUs. I know the Alesis Fusion uses Texas Instruments DSP chips... http://focus.ti.com/docs/pr/pressrelease.jhtml?prelId=sc05056&DCMP=OTC-DSP_eTech_May05&HQS=EtechInnovations+NL+etechmay05fusynthai (Hmm, I have a suspicion that, with surface mount components, and therefore [i'd think] not much scope for repairs other than swapping out the entire board, the modern 'service manuals' aren't going to tell you very much at all...) I wonder if another field (car engine management systems, for instance) wouldn't be a lot better documented though.
