Michiel
Hi Guys, Can you help me out on this: Do good (semi) nearfield monitors always have to have the bass-reflex port on the front side? I'm able to buy some great speakers: http://www.reference3a.com/royal.htm But they have the bass-port on the other side. Will this "blurr" my bass or make it less loud? Other info: the room is aprox. 5x4.5 m Thanks again! :-)
Byrdman
The advantage of the bass reflex port on the front is you can put them up against walls. Other than that it doesn't matter. At say 50 Hz a wavelength is over 6 metres. They would have to be pretty large for it to matter!

Michiel
by the way ... if anybody has experience with reference 3a I would love to hear it!
Kayvon
Also, one of the advantages of having ports at the back of the speakers is port turbulance/flutter (if present) is less directly audible.
