Hobo
Hi, I'm interested in the SRX11, the online demos ( here ) sound good , especially the ClassicGrand to my ears ( what's the piece? ). I'd like to know what the AntiqueUprit and SuperiorMono sounds are like, I'm looking for an upright that isn't the usual 'honkytonk' fayre and a useable mono piano. Thanks! Zeke Smith.
Same samples, different patch with different treatment and filtering. Don't expect it to be dramatically different, more a variation on the same theme. Current live rig: Roland RD700SX, Hammond XK-3 with Leslie System 21, and Muse Receptor. Also a Nord Stage 76 other times instead. And a Roland FP-7 for jazz gigs. HOME: Kawai MP8 + a bunch of VI's.
BluesKeys
I am also thinking of the SRX 11 for piano upgrade on my RD700. Are there several decent Accoustic pianos? How about EP's, it would be nice to have one with an aftertouch to add vibrato like a suitcase Rhodes. Jimmy Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others. Zeke Smith.
No EP's on SRX-11. The demos I've heard (and my friends at Roland) tell me that the new SRX-12 is the ticket for Rhodes sounds if you're on a Roland product. I've learned to like SRX-11 pretty well. It seems to be Roland's go at a Yamaha-type sound, and I think SRX-11 is probably on a par with something like Yamaha's own P-250 playability-wise. Different sounds for sure, but similarly useful. The Roland board is pretty bright, but not nearly as uneven through the registers as some of their past offerings (like SRX-02). SRX-11 still can't hold a candle to something like Ivory (nor should it), which is why I'm hot on getting a Receptor once Ivory is officially compatible. Does the original RD-700 even have aftertouch? The 700SX does not. Current live rig: Roland RD700SX, Hammond XK-3 with Leslie System 21, and Muse Receptor. Also a Nord Stage 76 other times instead. And a Roland FP-7 for jazz gigs. HOME: Kawai MP8 + a bunch of VI's.
