Is your SRV-3030 noisy?

I bought a SRV-3030 about 1 1/2 years ago. I really dug the sound, but the thing had so much hiss in it that I sold it.

 

So, I decided to give it another chance. I needed a reverb unit for my NL3. Same thing!!!

It's noisy in bypass and even noisier with bypass off.

 

1. I read the manual, matched input and output sensativities.

2. Input and output levels at unity.

3. The cords are wired correctly with 1/4" and

XLR.

 

WTF Am I missing something? I'm not a newbie, I've been doing this stuff a long time and I've never encountered such a thing, especially from Roland. Any suggestions?
