Jazz+
The new "Old Real Book" 6th Edition Hal Leonard has recently published a quasi-clone of the old original "The Real Book".The first thing I noticed when I got my copy was that the cover is paper and they used very light weight paper for the pages and the font is not a crisp as in my old bootleg edition. And a couple of pages are out of order in my copy, for example: Lush Life page 2 come three pages later than Lush Life page 1. They left out some of the old obscure fusion tunes but still kept in many of those useless charts. They did add a number of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and Gershwin tunes. DafDuc
For any of us who had (needed!!) the old illegal book and felt bad about the royalty situation, I guess this is a chance to make good. I played in an 8 piece horn band. We would often get bored. So...three words: "Tower of Polka." - Calumet
