berzerk
I was in a local pawn shop today and saw a yamaha sy85 sitting in a corner. I asked the clerk how much and he said $100.00 I said whats wrong with it and he showed me that one black key is loose or broken inside causing it to stick to the two adjacent white keys. My questions are 1. Is this worth buying, (I've already read alot of good reviews)and 2. Can I fix the key myself or should I take to serviceman to repair and about how much would it cost to repair. I dont have a workstation now (used to) and am just wondering if this is a good deal. thanks ahead of time.....
Robert Smedberg
I used to own one and if I stumbled across one for 100$, I'd buy it. Have no clue if you could fix it or how much it would cost to have someone else do it. But if the engine is ok you can always use it by MIDI. Roger Hooper
I used to sell these. They sound pretty good; lots of useful sounds, a lot of bottom end. The user interface on Yamaha pre-S80 keyboards can be a little stodgy; not as streamlined as Korg's, but for $100, it is worth learning. The keys around here (DC) usually cost over $75 to repair, so I echo the advice for checking with a repairman first.
