Chip Curtis
I'm looking into a remote board and pretty much decided on an AX-7. The thing is- it's white. Not that it looks terrible but I would prefer another color like the old AX-1B (black). It is "keytar" after all- are all guitars white? Negative. I understand the feature set on the AX-1 is not what the AX-7 offers but I thought the color might be enough to go for a used one. I checked ebay and a used black AX-1b sold for more than a new AX-7! Why? Does anyone know if Roland plans to offer this unit in another color in the future? I'm not into painting the thing.
zeronyne
It's probably more expensive because the person paid more for it when it was new, and they are trying to recoup more funds. I have a red AX-1 and about half a dozen other strap on keyboard controllers. I also chose to pass on the AX-7 because of the color. It's a shame, though, because it has the D-beam. Your painting comment has me thinking though...white would be a great place to start if customizing...maybe a flame maple sunburst... "For instance" is not proof.
