FnB
Not sure what the correct term is for this but I would call them Sub Drops - where the bass slides down into the sub frequency range and gives the speakers a good work out... An example would be on a track like Firestarter by the Prodigy, where as soon as the drums kick in, on the first beat of bar you've a nice little "sub drop"... Is this a sample from a kit or quick portamento slide from a bass instrument? I remember having a sample of one ages ago which I think might have come from a 909 or 808 drum machine... Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? Chris Griffin: Yo, did y'all check me when that hottie was all up in my Kool-Aid? Yeah, I was looking to break off a little somethin' somethin' but my crew gave me the 411 on that skank and she's all about the bling-bling. n Flux
its a sine wave that quickly drops its pitch and then slowly drops to a lower pitch and lowers in volume.
Togakure99
Take a sine wave and modulate the pitch down an octave with an envelope or ASR. Experiment with modulation times: you may want a fast drop or you may want it long and drawn out like the intro to BT's "Mad Skillz". Brett G. Hall Piano Company, Inc.
