Rick_Rhino
I just got a turntable again, and started listening to my early techno records, they seem be using the same type of lead sounds. example will be Inssomniak's "i come back",Digital boy's"this is mutha fuker",Human Resourcer's "Dominator", and of course the classic techno track L.A. Style's "James Brown is dead" any idea what synths were popular at that time (1991-1993) for techno? thanks happy new year so what's the WIFM? felix.
The Roland JD-800 was also responsible for a bunch of signature "big techno sounds" not too long ago.
Rick_Rhino
thanks for the responses so basicaly,Roland has had a lot to do with most of dance music ,tr-808,909,tb-303,alpha juno,jd-800,ect... so what's the WIFM?
rod76
In a way yes. I'd say the developpers for early 80s models were aware of types of music of the day and threw in features for that effect as in the clock syncing for triggering rhythmic patterns or arppeggios plus they were relatively cheap
dementia13
It wasn't all by design... the 303 wasn't really intended for dance music and didn't really take off until long after it was discontinued. But half of luck is being there, and Roland had a lot of good products out at the right time.
