petros
I want to make a new beginning, assume I have no gear. What program should I get to integrate all these virtual instruments listed below? I want to do Euro smooth jazz like Philippe Saisse does. In the past I have used slow Windows computers. I want to use these virtual instruments:"Atmosphere" "Trilogy" "Stylus" and "Liquid Grooves"Bardstown's streaming Bosendorfer piano(16 bit Giga version is 1.5 gigabytes. The 24 bit native EXS24/HALion/Kontakt package is 2.4 gigabytes)And I want the Scarbee 1.5 GB "Rhodes" Should I get: Logic, ProTools, Sonar, Cubase, Performer? What does Phillipe Saisse and Eric Pershing use? It would be great to be able to use these virtual instruments live as well for desktop music production. I would surely want to use the Bardstown Audio Imperial Grand live. Raki
Well, there are several plug-in formats. Some are for Mac and some are for Windows. Some of them are for Both, such as VST. And.. those programs support different types of plug-in formats, even more, some programs support a different format than its older versions.. For Example, Logic on Mac OS9 supports VST, however Logic on Mac OSX doesn't... All Spectrasonic's three instruments support Audio Unit which is a plug-in format for OSX. And, Logic and Digital Performer 4.1 support Audio Unit. Do you want to play these instruments live? Or are they going to be used in a studio? That makes a big difference. Hope that helps a little bit..
petros
I don't have a PC powerful enough to run these virtual instruments, so I could go either way with a Mac or a Windows computer. I have always been a Windows user. It would be great to be able to use these virtual instruments live as well for desktop music production. I would surely want to use the Bardstown Audio Imperial Grand live.
doug osborne
Eric Pershing uses Logic. IMO you could choose Cubase/Nuendo for best VST implementation, and it is cross-platform; Logic on OSX for the AU future.
