Is a 4200rpm drive enough for HALion, B4 etc.?

Thinking of buying a Powerbook 1GHz 12". It comes with a Ultra ATA drive at 42000rpm , and I'm wondering if it will work well with for example HALion or Reasons NN-XT sampler, in terms of latency. Willl I be able to play live comfortably on my midi-keyboard hooked up to my PB, or does the 42000 drive affect latency?

Thanks!

It does not affect latency so much as transfer rate.

Latency consists of head motion (seek) time and waiting for the data to come round under the head (latency). The seek time is usually the larger of the two and laptop drives always used to be relatively slow in this category - don't know if they still are.

On the whole. though, its unlikely you will have a problem because of the drive.
