VSTi Crackles

IGW

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm getting crackles when using VSTis. I'm using the original Cubase SX plugins: lm-7 ect. The crackles tend to occur with deeper tones and they seem to occur as the notes are decaying (Bass Drum). I don't know if this is just because I cannot hear the crackles when the note is loudest.

I think I've got all the tweaks in place, but I'm open to advise.

Thank-you for the reply. I am using the Hammerfall 96/52. The buffer size is set to 4096. This was determined by the the detect button on the setup dialogue

First two things I can think of to check.

Latency - try bumping it up just a bit and see if the crackles go away.

Connections - Especially if it is prevelant on bass notes and bass drum. Make sure a loose cable is not causing the problem. Or, turn off the speakers and check it with headphones. If it does it with headphones only then the bass notes vibrating connections is not the problem.

Also, is it happening with all soft synths, or only some, such as synths that use samples. If your bass drums are crackling and you are using a large kit you may be short on memory.
