Carlito
Could anybody who bought or played this board gimme your opinion about the sounds? Can the 16 Mb perfect piano still compete with the new versions from Yamaha, Roland and Kurzweil? How about electric and pipe organs? Lots of variations? I know the ensoniq Halo has it built in. Never had a chance to try it, though. Thanks
RABid
I have The Sounds of the ZR installed in my XL-7. I also have the Roland 64 meg piano ROM in my Fantom. While the Roland has a more natural sound the sustain seems a bit short to me. The Perfect Piano in the ZR ROM plays much better. I usually layer the two sounds and am very happy with the result. The other thing I like in the ZR is the percussion patches. The ZR ROM fits in very well in the XL-7 and I'm very happy with it in that respect. I don't think I would use the ZR piano on a recording, but I don't think I would use any ROMpler piano on a recording. Robert This post edited for speling. Carlito
Thanks for the reply, Robert.Guitar Center in Boston has a Roland XV-88 with the 64meg installed, and I love that piano sound. So if IYO the ZR fared well against that, it might still be a good choice, despite the years.
